April 13, 201214 yr I have Flight on an SSD and the DLC on a regular hard disk. I reinstalled Flight yesterday (twice...) and noticed the DLC was available right away. It made me wonder if the DLC is used directly from the DLC folder or if it is installed into Flight...?
April 13, 201214 yr It is my understanding it all comes from the dlc folder, that specific numbered folder. Maybe there is more to it than that though, I don't know. Don B
April 13, 201214 yr Be careful, I don't think you can just copy and paste it over or anything like that. Back when I did my first DLC, and noticed it had installed to my C drive, rather than my e: partition where Flight was installed, I moved it over but had to uninstall and then set GFWL preferences to install to my e: partition and redownload and installed. If I recall I went through quite a mess getting that to take successfully - can't remember what it was I did wrong at the time though. Don B
April 13, 201214 yr I did it as follows and it worked perfectly: I had the DLC folder on my F drive and I wanted it on my D drive. So I created a new folder on my D drive and copied the content of my F: DLC folder into it. I then opened the GFW Marketplace and using the settings menu I told GFWL that my DLC should be on the D drive from now on. The program warned me that this meant I would have to redownload all my DLC and that it would be removed from my current installment. I said OK, I don't mind. After quitting the Marketplace I noticed the DLC folder on the F drive was still there: I manually deleted it. So all I had now was the new DLC folder on my D drive with the files I copied. I started Flight and without any problems the Maule and RV plus the other islands were loaded instantly. So if you want to move your DLC folder without having to redownload everything: 1. Create a DLC folder where you want to have it and copy everything from the current DLC folder into it. 2. Open GFWL Marketplace and use the options to tell where you want the DLC folder to be (simply point to the folder you created in step 1). 3. WHen you get the message about DLC being deleted and having to install it all again, press OK. 4. Delete the old DLC folder. That should be it: MS Flight will see the files in the new folder immediately. This also proves that Flight indeed uses that DLC directly, so if you use an SSD, make sure to put your DLC on that SSD too! Disclaimer: if this works differently on your PC, bad luck... Just redownload and reinstall...
