April 16, 200422 yr Hi All! Just an FYI... we released the Task Force 16 scenery today. So fire up Briefing Time and try to get it off the decks of the USS Hornet.Contains the ship present on the morning of the April 18, 1942 launch:-Carriers-USS Hornet USS Enterprise-Cruisers-USS Salt Lake CityUSS VincennesUSS NashvilleUSS NorthamptonShould be more exciting then launching from a supercarrier. :D Enjoy!James D. April 16, 200422 yr Fantastic stuff-- really great to see this in FS2004 though I have to say that so far I haven't successfully got off in a B25. I'm sure it's possible and that eventually I'll do it. So far tried backing up till the main wheels are barely on the edge of the deck, with 10* flap, full flap, no flap, even roll with no flap and dropping them as we go over the bow - still finish with an early bath! Maybe the lack of wind over the deck!No problems with Corsair or Skyraider etc. This is good - if you haven't downloaded and you like Carriers then you really must try it.Thankyou Virtual NavyDave
April 16, 200422 yr I just tried it with Realism set to Hard..flight model settings set to realistic. Using Briefing Time....-Lower flaps to full extend-Parking brakes set-Full throttle -Hold for 4-5 seconds and release brakes.- Just before the edge of the deck you should be able to pull back on the yoke and the nose will lift..Hold the yoke at that same position... then when leaving the deck the plane will settle and the nose drifts over to the left... hold the yoke steady and the speed should gradually increase.raise the gearraise the flaps
April 17, 200422 yr I'll try it that way...............Just one small critisism - the ships don't have visible wakes( at least not in my PC)- is there any way to change this?Dave
April 17, 200422 yr See if you can find the movie, "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo". It goes into pretty good detail showing the training the pilots went through before they deployed on the carrier. You'll see actual B-25's taking off in the distance on runways. :) BobK
April 17, 200422 yr I had a guy that downloaded the scenery. Apparently he flew B-25s and was an instructor. He said they practiced short field take-offs at Eglin... must be what they caught in the movie? He could not find the Hornet in FS9... so I called him. I use voice over IP (www.packet8.net) so the call was cheap. This gentleman as you know is older... 89.. but he was thrilled with the scenery. He seemed a little confused about the ordering process with the MAAM site. So I said I would send him a copy.Went over to the MAAM site and ordered the 2 CD set and sent to his shipping address. Men from that generation are disappearing fast unfortunately. It was quite the charge talking to him. Also that he knows what a P4 1.4 GHz machine was... well very impressive for his generation. Hope he gets a kick out of Briefing Time and the multimedia CD. :)
