How to access the extended download service?
Problem is, I (and others) can't log in to put in a ticket. Trying to get the password doesn't work because no e-mail is received. The password for the normal PMDG account doesn't seem to work for a support ticket, so we're stuck...

Can't submit ticket
Nothing? No response? I paid for extended download services for 4 aircraft files. I haven't received any download information, and I can't submit a ticket because the ticket system doesn't recognize the password that I log in to my PMDG account with. I try to recover or reset the password, but even though it says an e-mail was sent, I get nothing. Not even in the spam-catcher. Is anyone home?Bob Klemm

Giving help and advice
Scott, here is the main issue:If you have a general question regarding operating a 767, then support from people like Mike S is fine, and that assistance is certainly appreciated. But, if you are looking for support directly related to Level D, then you should use the OFFICIAL Level D forum. We have often seen erroneous answers posted here in reply to questions by persons who mean well, but are not part of the Level D team. If you post these questions in the official forum, you will get replies from developers, testers, support persons and celebrities (:-)). The other issue is that people with pirated copies cannot access the official forums, and seek advise elsewhere. We don't support them.

Airlines vis-a-vis Passengers
Hey Jim - I know you were at HYA with Colgan Air before - Where are you working out of now?
-
Airlines vis-a-vis Passengers
It's a bad situation - high labor costs and high fuel costs = higher ticket costs. Higher ticket costs (the ones airline employees want)= fewer passengers. Fewer passengers = layoffs. Layoffs = unemployed airline workers. The reason there are so many airline employees now is that the cost of flying could be afforded by just about everyone. Change that back to the way it was pre-1960s, and you're going to have a LOT of workers that have to be let go. Hmm So what IS the answer?Another perspective - I hear a lot of airline employees who say that ticket prices are way too low. Most (not all) of these same people fly for free.I hear AA employees wanting the company to restore the pay cuts they took after 9/11, plus new pay increases on top of that. At the same time, the price of fuel is more than twice what it was at that time, so the company is starting to hemorrhage cash - again. The idea of traveling is going to change, the way we're headed. It'll be too costly to fly OR drive for many families. That leaves trains and buses, which, of course, also rely on petroleum. See what happens when those employees decide they deserve more, too. There's always the bicycles. ;-)

737-800 Range
With the winds they are right now, you'll need to stay low anyway - that, and because of the fuel load is why AA is filing for FL340. You're going to need around 40,000 lbs to make that trip at FL340, so you'll be loading over 41,000 lbs. Considering max fuel load it around 46K, that's pretty heavy. They'd have to be payload limited. It ain't fun flying west bound for long distances.

FMC plans to FS2004?
Programs like FS Build can send a flight plan to both the FMC database and the default FS flight planner. Just create the plan in FS Build, then convert send it to the various addons and default. Does that help?

Pilot's gun fires on US Airways flight
There's a big difference in what condition you keep your gun in, depending upon your intentions. If you're storing it at home, and keeping it for protection and you have kids in the house, yes - by all means keep it unloaded and the ammo stored in a different place, or keep a trigger guard lock on it. If you carry it because it's part of your job, you'd better keep that safety off and a round chambered, or in the words of my favorite firearms instructor, "all you have in that holster is a paperweight". I don't know what the policy for safeties and chambered rounds are for armed pilots, but I'd have to think that someone was probably "playing" with this one. And zzmikezz, if he wasn't authorized to carry it, he wouldn't have had it onboard. They still have to go through security and prove they have authorization to carry it. I wonder how often they go back for requal and training?

Pilot's gun fires on US Airways flight
Actually, the title of the thread should be, "Pilot Fires Gun on US Airways Flight". The gun didn't fire itself. What brought it about was that he (or someone else)was handling it and did something stupid - plain and simple.I can understand the crews wanting to be able to defend themselves, but allowing them to carry guns was a really dumb decision, IMHO.
