June 22, 200817 yr It is a shame. I remember watching his dad Connie race back in the 70's. I think Scott started racing in the 80's. I saw the crash on ESPN, and it was pretty horrific. I don't understand why the track has no over-run at the end; some sort of sandpit or something. He may have survived the initial explosion, but when the car hit the wall at the end and blew up, I really don't see anything surviving that. Stupid place to put a wall.Don
June 29, 200817 yr Author Very sad indeed. It was just a horrific looking crash. It does seem like the track needs some serious remodeling to make things a little safer, not that running 320+ mph will ever be safe. May Scott Kalitta rest in peace.KP
