April 18, 201214 yr I suppose that this very interesting threat with much help from Word Not Allowed in this MS FSX forum: KDFW great frames with 8xS and 2SGSS http://forum.avsim.n...-8xs-and-2sgss/ must in fact be in one of the hardware forums or not? and if so in which? In the FSX forums you have the "Hardware and Driver Threads please read " threat, with a warning: "All hardware issues or questions, drivers, flight controlers, or anything related, should be posted in the hardware forums. Please understand that moving dozens of threads every weeks is very time consuming and thus hardware related posts in this forum will be immediatly closed." Ok but unfortunately the url's to the other hardware forums mentioned don't work. Luckily i found in Word Not Allowed's excellent: "Link to Software & Hardware Guide for FSX users" in the Ms FSX forum a hint from Word Not Allowed to go to the: Hardware Forums -> MOBO, CPU, RAM... So then you have the "Hardware and Operating System Discussion" with "Mobo,Ram,CPU's and other Hardware" and "Video Cards and Drivers" and "Hardware controllers and Drivers" , ................. And the ther's also the "Tweaks and Hardware Forums" again in the FSX forum but 180 days old .......... So i suppose it must in fact be in the "Video Cards and Drivers" forum? Of course it can be me ........... Bart With kind regards, Bart S.
April 19, 201214 yr Author Maybe administrator David Roch can already do something about the links ? -_- With kind regards, Bart S.
April 19, 201214 yr yes it is very hard to find out what the current "magic fix" is....so many tweak guides running around out there...i just use bojotes fsx.cfg tweaker and the NVIDIA inspector fps limiter and that does wonders for me Tramps like us, baby we were born to run......
April 19, 201214 yr jdhowell, using Bojote's tweaks is probably the best idea for your system. But that advice doesn't apply to highclocked Sandy Bridge users with good graphic cards. Bart, I actually agree, that currently everything's a bit "everywhere". I could have posted my guide into Tweaks section, but the fact is, it doesn't completely belong there, neither it does really into the hardware forums. And splitting the two guides was a no-go for me, since I explain lots of connected stuff in there. Both sections are supporting each other. Right now, the best thing is just to find it and use it. I'll see that we discuss this with mods. What would be your suggestion? Because get this: if you talk about GPU IQ, where does it belong? Into tweaks or GPU hardware? It has something to do with both... if you talk about BP=0, should it be in FSX or tweaking section? Or even CPU section because it actually has something to do with the hardware... if you talk about SSD and trim, shouldn't it actually be in hardware, because you are talking about getting the best out of SSD, and not what SSD to get? It's quite hard to fix-sort stuff. Forums are always going to be a lively place with stuff being everywhere IMO. k but unfortunately the url's to the other hardware forums mentioned don't work. That's because recently all links changed. I'll fix it. And Bart... one thing I also don't quite get. You said you were looking for the HW forums (you did find it in the end). Did it ever occur to you to go through the list of forums on the main forum page and just see what we have to offer? Kind of browsing the aisles in the shop looking for interesting things. Then you would see it, after scrolling for 20seconds. Or less. What you are doing here is complaining about being a bit lazy... (yes, AVSIM forums are a huge place and we do our best job of maintaining it, but we do it for free and in our free time). And if all that fails, there is still a search function (which should be working even via Google now). Just do a little look around, let yourself to get the forums known and you'll be enjoying it quite quickly! In the end: I'll take any constructive idea any day!
April 19, 201214 yr Author That's because recently all links changed. I'll fix it. I just thought that for users with less technical knowledge the changed links where at first a help and now a bit confusing. So if you find the time to update them that is of course very kind and that little problem is solved then! And Bart... one thing I also don't quite get. Hmmmm, it was not a question of 'finding it in the end'. Of course i knew where the forums are, because i am a flight similation forumreader for more than 10 years, and not only the Avsim forums, but also the Flightsim.com forums, the X -plane forums, the iFly forums, Soaring forums, and i can go on ... Also several piano forums, another hobby of mine, and much more. So, yes from the first second "it did occur to me to go through the list of forums on the main forum page and just see what you had to offer!" So i just wanted to point politely at the fact 'that currently everything's a bit "everywhere" like you say. And yes i'm aware of the fact that "we do our best job of maintaining it, but we do it for free and in our free time)." So i wasn't accusing anybody of the moderators of beeing lazy, just a kind suggestion of updating the links and maybe in the long run ' bringing things a bit together'. Therefore i was hoping that other forum users that are much smarter than me maybe had some suggestions to make the forums even better. So i go on searching and surfing through lots of forums, giving some modest help or suggestions where i can and keep on learning every day in my late fifties. So Word Not Allowed, i know you have your own style of saying things and you are a great help for many simmers as a moderator and with your "Link to Software & Hardware Guide for FSX users" and lots of other contributions, so i am sure you didn't mean it like that, but please don't call me lazy, ok? Everybody can have a bad day, so no harm done then, no offence taken and let us further enjoy our hobby. Regards Bart With kind regards, Bart S.
April 19, 201214 yr just a kind suggestion of updating the links OK, if it was ment like that, I'll take it like that. The original post sounded quite different to me. Hmmmm, it was not a question of 'finding it in the end'. After reading your original post, I also understood that quite differently. but please don't call me lazy, ok? Fair enough, sorry about that. So no harm done then, no offence taken and let us further enjoy our hobby. Agreed. The only thought I have after reading your last post is that you could have formulated your original post in a positive manner, maybe have a suggestion what we could do better? That would have been appreciated on my side of the pond.
