Pitch sensitivity.

Featured Replies

Just installed and did a quick test flight, so I am in no way experienced with this add-on. But I must say, I am very impressed.

One question though, pitch seems very sensitive. Is this a characteristic of the real aircraft?

Overall, from a quick test flight, the FDE looks excellent as we would expect from Bernt, so not a criticism, just a query regarding the pitch sensitivity.

She is sensitive but nevertheless stable. There are quite a few numbers IRL which have to be achieved concerning elevator effectiveness, stability etc... to be certified and many, even high quality add-ons are way too stable.

It's a bit of a trade off as well due to small joystick/yoke travel and the missing required force.

You can design rock steady planes with a 'heavy' feel but in that case you are missing the maneuverability of the real plane. I always want my planes to be as maneuverable as their real world counterparts.

In case of the C90 it was a rather easy job without any guessing as I just had to tune the pitch responsiveness and stability until Steve (+10000hrs C90 pilot) was satisfied.

Excellent answer, can't argue with that. Keep up the excellent work Bernt.

Interesting what you say about many add-ons being "too" stable. I can think of a couple of add-ons in my hangar, by a certain developer/publisher, that are so stable they feel like they are on rails.

I much prefer your work, in that the aircraft actually feels like it's moving through a dynamic fluid, rather than rigidly following a virtual railway track in the air.
