April 25, 200422 yr My system isn't exactly STATE OF THE ART, so I fly my High Performance payware AC for Takeoff and landings out of the main cockpit (By hitting "W")Most of the high performance AC use the Default Cessna Guages when in this screen. I'd like to add a TCAS Guage, but I don't know how, or if it's possible to edit the default? Can anyone fill me in, if you know? Thanks.
April 25, 200422 yr Hmmmm, actually, I'd like to know this also. I have observed that in some aircraft the gauges aren't what was referred to as "default" but are the same gauges in the cockpit view. Several of those "oldies" comes to mind. Can't think of an actual name right at the moment but it was an old mil plane. Makes me think there's some file or config somewhere where it specifies not what gauges but what functions are displayed.

It's really quite simple, although not perhaps obvious...Simply add a "minipanels" window to the panel.cfg file that specifies which gauges you want to use on the "mini panel."Window07=Mini Panel <=add this to the bottom of the declarations, using the next available number: in this case, it was 07.Then, add the actual gauge definitions to the panel.cfg file://--------------------------------------------------------[Window07]Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=664,113window_size_ratio=0.732 position=7visible=1ident=MINIPANELchild_3d=1gauge00=Mooney_Bravo!Airspeed, 0,6gauge01=Mooney_Bravo!Turn Coordinator, 105,6gauge02=Mooney_Bravo!Attitude, 210,0gauge03=Mooney_Bravo!HSI, 333,0gauge04=Mooney_Bravo!Altimeter, 456,5gauge05=Mooney_Bravo!Vertical Speed, 563,6Note that the second parameter in the above example, which is the y coordinate, is relative to the top of the "minipanel," not the top of the main window! Since all the Mooney_Bravo gauges are built at "display size," there are no entries required for h and w, as is the case with many other gauges. For more information or assistance, please read the Aircraft & Panel design forum here at avsim.com Fr. April 25, 200422 yr Bill thanks for the message, I tried adding a new window, called MINIPANEL However, when I attempt to change the Ident, I get the following message:"Can't change the Window IDENT. The new window Ident is already used by Window 0"Upon opening the properties for Window 0, It's Ident is "0"I'm not sure if I can change this or not?

April 25, 200422 yr Bill, I took your advice, did a paste in notepad, fired up the sim and PRESTO! Works like a charm. thanks. I Now have the window set exactly how I wanted it. Appreciate the info.
April 25, 200422 yr Author Moderator Now that you know how, you can simply substitue whatever gauges you actually want to see in the minipanel window... :) Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
