Textures on Vertical Surfaces. Would I Be Correct In Saying....

Featured Replies

.....that these look strange (ie stretched) because FS covers an area in textures as if it were looking down on the area. A vertical surface can't be seen from straight up so when it comes to covering it with texture, FS gets itself a little confused.

I would say that is a correct assumption.

So is anybody aware of a program that will make vertical surfaces in FS slightly less so, in order for the textures on these surfaces to show better? Or perhaps this question might be best asked in the "Scenery Design" forum.Victor

I could be wrong but I don't think there would be such a program that could fix this in a general way. Different meshes might be one answer, or perhaps playing with flatten commands in the scenery.cfg file for a few particularly annoying instances, which would take a long time to do even if you know how. Maybe playing with the terrain settings in the fs9.cfg might do something, but it produced other unwanted side effects when I tried that. Otherwise I don't think there is a simple solution, if any at all.
