Newbie--realscene support

Featured Replies

Hi all, new to the forum, though I have been browsing for a time. Tremendous resource of information here! My question is regarding Realscene 2004, which I have just purchased. I have a question, not sure if here is the right place to ask, or if someone knows the best way/place to obtain support?Actually I am also new to FS9 and loving it. Looking forward to the learning curve.Randy AdamsTaiwan

Post your question here starting the subject line with RealScene2004 Question (or Problem). This will probable catch the attention of author/user Eddie Denney who frequents this forum. If you do not get a response use your AVSIM control panel to send a PM or e-mail to user Eddie Denney. Also, I have the product but chose a non-standard installation. If you post, I or other users may be able to answer your question.

thanks ronzie, just a quickie for you..on my installation I opted for Alaska and Hawaii to be run from the DVD. When I go to AK though, FS does not access the DVD, and runs only the default scenery. (Realscene is #1 priority). Wonder if you have the same setup?thanks,Randy

Hi Randy,Alaska and Hawaii can not be run from the DVD by themselves. The option in the installer is only to install these areas on your computer or not to install them at all. You can run all of the terrain from the DVD by going to the Scenery Library, add new area, then find the DVD and the addon scenery folder. Name it RealScene Terrain. Then you should be able to use any of the U.S. terrain from the DVD. The only problem with this is that it will be much slower loading, because the terrain files the sim will be using will be loaded to the scenery cache on your hard drive, and depending on your scenery library settings, it will be slower shutting down as it deletes them when you close the sim. I suggest placing all of the files on your hard drive for better performance, especially the Landclass files, since they take up very little room anyway.Eddie

thanks very much Eddie, ...actually, I have everything on HD except AK, Hawaii...will just install them to..they're not so big. Am really loving the scenery, esp mountains..anywhere! There is a large lake near my home in N.C. (Lake Norman) that is a bit of a disappointment, but I am guessing that is a problem with data. thanks again for your hard work with this one, RandyTaiwan

Hi Randy, I am glad to here you are enjoying it. There is and update at Vmax that will fix a few problems and update the western U.S. landclass, You can get it here: http://www.simpilot.com/DLOAD/RS-patch.zip .Eddie

Thanks Eddie, actually already have the patch in place....if you dont mind, I can email you (via aol) the particular area in NC I am referring to. Randy
