Trackir I always setup with Z axis turned off.

 

Then I have zoom in and out mapped to a hat switch on my throttle, it's much more precise this way.

 

Also mapped is the centre button, just sit straight and tap it if your headset gets bumped or you have to take it off to talk to the family/mistress/dog etc :)
