May 3, 200422 yr I am very pleased with the new GA-Traffic programme by Markus Brunner. Now I have GA traffic everywhere -- it is great trying to land in the middle of all those student a/c doing touch and goes!! :)But, I feel that (apart from reading the manual and figuring how to change various settings) , that there will be "tricks" that people will use with the settings to do certain things.I'm finding it a bit hard to put into words what I mean. For example, one question that I would like solved is the question of military flights, a/c and airports. So-- how are you all using this programme -- it seems to me to be about the absolute best add-on for Fsim yet!! Barry
May 3, 200422 yr For example, one question that I would like solved is the question of military flights, a/c and airports.Don't know for sure, but maybe the updated version will help you out. ga-traffic_setup.zipGA-Traffic 1.0 for FS2004This is the 1.0 release of GA-Traffic.It should fix all previously noted problems and add 'Military' airport detection.
May 4, 200422 yr I'm absolutely happy with the program as it is. I just tweaked the plane settings a bit - I restricted the usage of planes to the FS9 default planes and the wonderful oldtimers by Bill Lyons. I set the usage for all the modern planes to 100%, and for the oldtimers between 5 and 10%. Gives me a nice mix of current and older planes, and good FPS.I normally fly small GA planes around Seattle or Alaska, and now that the skies are full of other GA planes everything feels so much more alive. I have Ultimate Traffic installed as well, so I now have traffic wherever I am, no matter what type of aircraft I fly.VOlker :]
May 5, 200422 yr Hmmm-- 347 have read this thread and only 2 responses. It seems that people are simply using the default settings for this programme - that's OK - because it does work just great right out of the box. But it seems to me that "individual" tweaking of the settings can affect exactly what kind of GA traffic is generated depending on what you want. I thought that people may have been doing this -- but never mind. I'll just get on with it :(Barry

I thought>that people may have been doing this -- but never mind. I'll>just get on with it :(>>BarryHi Barry,I think most users use the default settings, because they are good. The best to tweak with is the 'propability' of the planes. The program couldn't detect if a plane is old or only use a old engine. So if you don't like many 'Spirits' in the sky you should disable it or lower the probability. Another tweak is, that I was told that the KBFI (Boing Field Airport in Seattle) has GA Traffic and Big planes mixed. The automatic detection of GA-Traffic set KBFI at high landing fees because its a big airport. So if you like more realistic traffic for KBFI set the 'Landing Fees' to 150. I think there are more airports out there which didn't match the automatic detection scheme of GA-Traffic, but I didn't known more. The 'Military aircraft' part will be a addition to the current version and the program will be GA-Traffic 2.0 or GA/MA-Traffic 2.0. Currently I have not started the programing and have not set the needed features. So currently I read the postings here and on other forums and look if there are problems which should be fixed.Don't expect the GA-Traffic 2.0 to soon, it depends on time my wife give me for the programing :-)
May 6, 200422 yr MarkusI hope that you get the recognition for this programm ethat you deserve . In my view, it is the best freeware add-on that has been produced for FS2004 and fills the largest "hole" that the Sim had -- ie realistic GA traffic. Now , one 'trick" that has worked for me . Here in Australia , there are regional airports that have a mix of GA and Dash8 a/c - by simply moving the weight slider to 16000 kg, I am now getting this correct mix at my regional airports. In regard to your comment about KBFI, I am sure that this is also true at other airports and a little bit of tweaking of the default settings will do wonders. It is a little comliciated to think through the ramifications of changing the default settings - but Im suspect that a little bit of thought could do wonders. That is why I started this thread -- but , as I said , it seems that most people are only using the default settings .Thanks a lotBarry

One point is the parking space type (if set), other are words like 'Army', 'Navy', 'Airforce'. But most detection must be made by the user.
