AFCAD2 files

Featured Replies

Hello! Sorry if it was already asked, where should I put AFCAD2 file properly? Is there a difference if I put it into a scenery folder of some addon scenery, or if I put it into fs9addon sceneryscenery folder? What's the difference?

You can put it either place, and it will work fine. As long as you put it in a "scenery" subfolder that is already recognized or that you identify in the scenery library (normal method of installing addon .bgl files), your AFCAD file will be effective in FS9 regardless of its disk location. Many folks recommend putting your AFCAD files in one folder with the four letter ICAO code as the first unique letters in the filename so you can find them all easily and check for duplicates (e.g., AF2_KJFK, AF2_KSFO). One consideration in this, though, is where you want to set scenery priority for your AFCAD files. This is easy enough to do if they're all together, but some may want to locate files outside the one folder for certain reasons (like you pointed out, with an addon scenery in its own folder). As to preferred locations I've seen in readme files and in forum posts, many suggest :...FS9Addon Sceneryscenery while some others create a directory of their own just for AFCAD files. I've chosen :...FS9Addon SceneryAFCADscenery. To each his own.Hope this helps,Kevin
