June 5, 201213 yr Hi All Have just completed Kostas latest tune up with amazing results. I now find that my Gainward 480 GTX is doing more work and temps. are up in the 90s. I am prepared to buy a new card and did see somewhere that the 600 seris will handle this and run cooler. Which one is best for my system? 2600k @ 4.8 ghz 1.375v, gtx 480, asus p8p67 pro, corsair vengeance 8gb @ 1600mhz, Noctua NH-D14 with PMW, HAF coolmaster, Corsair HX 850w, Paul EGLD
June 5, 201213 yr GTX 670 or 680 will do the job. No one here has tested a 670 and compared to the 680 yet to see if there is any performance difference, but I doubt there is one. My 680 performs no faster when overclocked than it does at stock speeds so I would guess a 670 would handle FSX basically the same.
June 6, 201213 yr Definitely. 480 -> 680 will be a decent boost, or even a 2nd hand 580 (going for about 200€). Especially if you throw some IQ at it like I do.
June 6, 201213 yr Author Thanks for your advice, I noticed yesterday that I got spikes with agressive panning so am hoping a newer card will cure this. Will order a Gainward GTX 670 Phantom and update the newer drivers Paul EGLD
