Google is flying planes over cities to generate 3D maps:

They also supposed revamped their developer's portal:

This SHOULD make things easier for sim developers to integrate that information, and even keep it up-to-date. Hopefully the MS Flight team is keeping an eye on this.

I doubt it, LOL. While some great advances, they have probably have had this tech in house for some time. Would love to see a full satellite imagery ehanced world myself, but unless a 3rd party brings it, I doubt it will happen anytime soon.

 

I forgot where i saw it, but there was already a company a few years back that created perfect 3d replicas of cities for a business environment. The tech was mind blowing and very accurate.
