June 6, 201213 yr Google is flying planes over cities to generate 3D maps: http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/technology/chi-google-flying-planes-over-cities-for-3d-maps-20120606,0,7276103.story They also supposed revamped their developer's portal: https://developers.google.com/maps/ This SHOULD make things easier for sim developers to integrate that information, and even keep it up-to-date. Hopefully the MS Flight team is keeping an eye on this.
June 6, 201213 yr I doubt it, LOL. While some great advances, they have probably have had this tech in house for some time. Would love to see a full satellite imagery ehanced world myself, but unless a 3rd party brings it, I doubt it will happen anytime soon. I forgot where i saw it, but there was already a company a few years back that created perfect 3d replicas of cities for a business environment. The tech was mind blowing and very accurate.
