  1. Just watched the hour-long XBox One reveal live stream. Much cool stuff for sports games, entertainment, HALO, Call of Duty. Fifteen new titles said to be under development. No mention of flight sims.
  2. This link is an indiegogo site soliciting for "... a photo-book about 15 airplanes abandoned in nowhere. All on board survived the forced landings." There's a video that shows crash sites that look eerily like some of the past AOTD's.
  3. Tutorials worked like a champ! Now just have work on my lame Photoshop skilz,.
  4. Before the flight, I use the cockpit of the Maule to set RPM at 70%. Then into the C46; climbed out at 100%, 135 kts, to FL200; once at altitude, adjusted power to maintain 125kts. Sorry, didn't note elapsed time---I don't stay in front of the computer during the flight (was practicing saxophone scales).
  5. This morning I droned from Adak to Kahului in the C46, a long flight :-). That started me wondering about the average duration of my flights. I divided my flight time total by the sum of my landings and crashes. I came up with .3036 hours, about eighteen minutes per flight, on average. I don't know what to think about that, but there it is.
  6. Finally crossed this one off my list of things to try. Took off out of Adak and kept straight. Did one in-flight refuel by exiting free flight, going to the hangar, sliding the fuel slider to 100%, and back to free flight. As HiFlyer suggests, don't go to the map, at least until you see the mountains of Maui. Then into Kahului. Pretty much a straight shot.
  7. Looked more like a "land the Icon in the ocean and walk upstream" type to me. Some picturesque pools on the way.
  8. Amen! I bagged it and went elsewhere. Come to think of it, I think the only times I've landed at Upper P is when it sported a destination diamond.
  9. Missed this one---have the flu and couldn't face the computer :-(. But that was yesterday. Got my 200th today :-).
  10. Thanks for the hint; might not have been able to figure this out. But.... I started the launcher and unticked the "Seed" box. While the launcher was updating files, Malwarebytes reported the following: 2012/12/26 12:55:53 -0500 BLACKSUN Geo IP-BLOCK 89.28.93.246 (Type: outgoing, Port: 27032, Process: launcher.exe) 2012/12/26 12:56:41 -0500 BLACKSUN Geo IP-BLOCK 31.133.45.196 (Type: outgoing, Port: 27032, Process: launcher.exe) 2012/12/26 12:57:13 -0500 BLACKSUN Geo IP-BLOCK 91.188.44.23 (Type: outgoing, Port: 27032, Process: launcher.exe) 89.28.93.246 is in Chisinau, Moldova. Internet comments say that this site attempts to load a Trojan via Skype. 31.133.45.196 is in Makiyivka, Ukraine. The Project Honey Pot system has detected behavior from the IP address consistent with that of a mail server. But it adds that this IP has not seen any suspicious activity within the last 3 months. This IP is most likely clean and trustworthy now. 91.188.44.23 is in Riga, Latvia. I didn't find any net comments on this IP. Maybe the launcher needs to be restarted with seed box unticked. I'll try again after the file download completes.
  11. Ah, didn't notice that option. Thanks for the steer. Will check it out.
  12. And also consider making sure to fly right side up :-)!
  13. I'm an occasional WT simmer as well. But something about WT makes me nervous. Note the Malwarebytes warning pop-up in the following screen shot. It shows that the launcher process has attempted to contact a site known to be suspicious. A look at the Malwarebytes log shows multiple attempts to various sites blocked. A whois look-up of these sites shows then to be in China, Romania, Poland, etc. Some show up on Internet lists of spam/malware sites. I posted my concerns about this to the WT forum. The reaction was dismissive: obviously false positives, thousands have played the game without problems, you're over-reacting, etc. Well, maybe.... Nevertheless, my advice is to have some industrial strength anti-malware running if you dabble in WT. I seem to have picked up a rootkit search redirector which remains invisible to anything I've tried yet to fix it. I'm not saying it came from using WT, but those Malwarebytes pop-ups don't make me feel good about it.
