December 30, 201213 yr Well, this is a first. We visit a self serve fueling station for this one. Enjoy. Thank you. Rick $Silver Donor EAA 1317610 I7-7700K @ 4.5ghz, MSI Z270 Gaming MB, 32gb 3200, Geforce RTX2080 Super O/C, 28" Samsung 4k Monitor, Various SSD, HD, and peripherals
December 30, 201213 yr Looks like a a nice scenery flight. I made a flightplan useable with GMap. Click here
December 30, 201213 yr I found other self serve gas stations, but it took a while to get the right one! Nice placement of the cache as well. You really have to get quite close to get it. And Whitehorse...what a great find this far away from the Alaska border. You usually just find that muddy grey gloom at the edges of the Alaska grid. Lots of nice details in the city and an actual ATC tower close to where the runway would be. Very cool, keep exploring!
December 30, 201213 yr I forgot to mention, this was Aerocache 200 for me! How appropriate that it was a Canadian one. I took off from Whitehorse to see if nearby Cousins Airport was there. It was, but the only detail was a windsock.
December 30, 201213 yr Yes, very interesting. Erik Nielsen International Whitehorse Airport. Another point of enter for Canada. I think it is almost certain the the Yukon Territory would have been the next area released for MSFlight. This is a big International airport, well, would have been. The tower also controls a float plane base in a near by lake. The city of Whitehorse is well detailed and seems to be mostly complete, I would say the airport was well under way when work was stopped. This was like finding a needle in a haystack. I wonder what other unfinished work is hiding in the Yukon? Steve
December 31, 201213 yr Author Interesting... the Whitehorse VOR is working! 116.60 That's how I got there. Simply followed the needle, and could see the airport location from a good ways out. Interesting flight especially where you can see the mountain ranges sheared off. This is where the Alaska expansion ends and probably where the Northwest Territories expansion would have picked up. It's neat to see just how far into Canada the did get though. Opens up a new area for exploration. Thank you. December 31, 201213 yr I put myself in the general area of Whitehorse and used the VOR for help, Thanks Heimi! Then I decided to check something out that I saw in the top-down view, so I made the flight back to Skagway. Turns out there is a real nice mesh cliff about 1/3 of the way back. It's in Canada, but shows the overlap of the file structure. Sure wish there was a way to fix something like that! Because as everyone knows... it's always about the mesh, man!
December 31, 201213 yr  You said it, Meshman! I prepared a flight plan from Skagway, thinking to visit the famed sights of the Yukon Gold Rush on the way. However, it is a long flight for me, almost an hour and a half, so it was hard to decide whether to go with the Cub or something faster. In the end, I (always!) choose the Cub. Taking off from the Skagway runway. Skagway behind me, adventure ahead! Flying over famed Tagish Lake, just trees! And no Bennet Lake either. This is where I too get the Meshman itch to fix things, just put down some Hydro Polys with shorelines, easy! This is such a nice picture, I think I shall frame it and hang it over the bed. The wife just loves that! Whitehorse Tower, Luis in his custom Cub, and I have the runway in sight? This shot is especially for Steve. :LMAO: No, I had to land to get the Aerocache, it wouldn't register from the air. All in all, a fun flight. Many thanks to the guy who came up with it, and thanks to Chloe for including it in her list. Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
