June 14, 201213 yr I've been using Javier Fernandez's USS Eisenhower and Nimitz for a while now, and I just saw a video in which somebody operated the aircraft elevator to raise their plane from the lower deck hangar. How is this animation operated? Thanks, boeing247 -Bram Osterhout
June 14, 201213 yr The elevator goes up and down by itself every few minutes. Just fold your wings and taxi onto it. It will lower eventually. There is not a trigger that I know of. You need to make sure you are all the way centered on the platform. The fences will raise and it will lower. Once at the lower level, you may taxi off and into the bay. Pretty cool.
June 14, 201213 yr Author Okay. Thanks! Do you have any tips for properly taxiing onto it with the VRS F/A-18? I'd use slew, but I seem to have this odd bug where, upon exiting slew, the aircraft accelerates rapidly. -Bram Osterhout
June 15, 201213 yr No, sorry I can't help you much, it just takes practice. I just simply taxi onto it slowly and use the outside view to make sure I'm pretty well centered. Of course, taxiing on the carrier deck takes a lot of patience and caution, way more so than taxiing anywhere on dry land. I taxi very slowly at all times, no way do I want to end up in the water. I have never used SH+P to reverse but I think it would work if you get into a jam. The slew problem you mentioned may be that your joystick is not centered completely. Any forward trim and it will bolt off to destinations unknown. Try slewing on a land airport out in the open and adjust as necessary. Maybe controller software can help you center your stick? You might also try increasing the dead zone of your stick in settings/controls for slew mode (radio button). My stick has wheels for centering, maybe yours does too? Good luck.
