A flightplan mystery

Featured Replies

Need some help with a strange flightplan here guys.

As I usually do, I prepared a plan using FSBuild from Jersey UK (EGJJ) rw 09 to London Stansted (EGSS) rw 04.

I exported the plan to FSX as a pln file and the NGX as a rte file, which is my norm. I loaded the plan into the FMC and fired up Radar Contact loading it with the pln version.

After I'd been flying a short while, Radar Contact told me I was off course and gave me a new heading to follow. It wasn't that I'd missed a waypoint, I realised but the FMC only had four or five of the total number of waypoints. After the fifth it was taking me directly to the runway at EGSS rather than following the routing in the plan.

I finished the flight by changing headings manually as instructed by Radar Contact - or rather getting my FO to change headings in FS2Crew!

After the flight I opened both plans in Notepad and as far as I can see they are essentially the same in terms of the waypoints included. I would have attached them both but when I tried to upload the rte file I received a message saying I was not permitted to upload this kind of file. I sometimes wonder about the Avsim forums.

Any way, if any of you can think of a reason for the FMC plan to screw up I'd be interested.
