FSX computer - need advice

Featured Replies

I hope this is the right place-let me know if not. I'm in the market for a new PC for FSX (and my wife's photo-editing). I don't know enough about PC's to build my own, unless I had a lot of help, I'd be interested though.

I'm trying to keep my budget near $1,000 and I'm not very savvy. I don't have anything now (just an old Dell laptop). What I'd love is really a guide on what to find, but really where to find it.

Any advice?

Probably better if you open a new thread in this same section of the forums. Are you in the US?

I split your topic into a new one. Though I must say, the advice you are seeking is all to be found in the document I wrote, and it has been written exactly for that reason.

Yep, in Wisconsin

Depending upon where exactly in Wisconsin you live, and how good your gas mileage is, you could stop by Micro Center in the Twin Cities or in Chicago and pickup their fantastic 3570K + Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 board combo for a grand total of $279 (plus tax). That would knock up to $90 off the parts listed by Dazz. Also, you could save a bit on both cooler and case by going with a simple Antec 300 (for about $50, also at Micro Center) and a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo (for about $37, also at Micro Center) or even online for similar prices.

Hey if you want to keep your budget below 1000 you can custom build your pc at www.magicmicro.com . You will find some great topic here in AVSIM of what to get an what not to get . Copy every detail that finds your interest in a note pad . An check each part such as CPU , GPU, Hardrive etc in magicmicro.com . Also while you choose build your computer at magic micro you can update the price an they will tell you if its over 1000 . I build my computer there an let me tell you it is great my fsx i have to admit i get into trouble now an then but in terms of great performance its very nice an smooth . Check those guys out there great. I learn so much that from now on i won't buy computers in the store because you waste tones of money on a computer that sometimes don't have the spec you want . Am talking from experience that i have run fsx on 1 desktop hp , an Hp Laptop Pavilion that cost me over 800 dollars . The performance was great for the laptop but the graphic was lame . So i sold my laptop an custom build my desktop at magicmicro.com

Another thing i may i add in case your kind of confuse . You just choose what you want to have in the computer such as graphic card , CPU , Motherboard , Hardrive etc.... An they will build it for you then after they build it for you they run some test on it like for 3 days test. Also you get 3 year warranty an every part in the computer is new an comes with warranty for everything in the PC. Magicmicro is kind like cyberpowerpc.com , but a little cheaper an stuff .
