June 24, 201213 yr Hi All, I have a problem with a three monitor setup in FSX. I tried to look for an existing thread, but couldn't find it. If there's already an existing thread about my problem, my apologies in advance! So this is the problem: I'm trying to run FSX in a three monitor setup. I've got 3 1920*1080 monitors and I'm using AMD Eyefinity to run them as 5760x1080. I've set the resolution in FSX to 5760*1080 as well. At first, FSX only displayed the normal 1920 cockpit, spread across 3 screens. THis wasn't my intention. I didn't want it the normal 1920 resolution spread across 3 monitors, i wanted an expanded Field of View. So I went to the FSX.cfg file and changed WideViewAspect to true and saved it. All fine so far. Now when I go into FSX, my centre monitor looks perfectly fine. I can view the cockpit on my centre monitor and can see more FOV around me on the other 2. However, the image on both side monitors looks distorted. It looks like it's stretched. For instance, when I'm at the airfield there's a truck. When I shift my view so the truck is displaye don my centre monitor, it looks perfectly fine. Now when I move the view, so the truck is being displayed on one of the side monitors, it suddenly look stretched and looks like it's a lot closer. Zooming out does help a bit to make it look a little bit more normal (not stretched) and zooming in makes it look even more stretched. This is not ideal, since zooming out means I can't read any of my instruments anymore. Does anyone please know how to fix this? I've attached some screen shots to make things a bit more clear. Top half of the picture is what the truck looks like on my side screen. Bottom half on the centre screen (the good one). My computer setup: triple 1920*1080 monitor Intel I7 2600K @4.5Ghz Asus P8P67 deluxe mobo MSI HD 6950 Twin Frozr III 2Gb Asus HD 6950 DCII 2 Gb (in crossfire) Coolermaster bronze 850W PSU. Running windows 7 65 bit and latest Catalyst control centre version.
June 25, 201213 yr Sorry Bonesie that is just the way it is. Only real alternative is to zoom in enough to minimise the distortion and use say TrackIR to look around. With a zoomed in view you could also try moving your eye-point back as far as practical to see more of the instruments. gb. YSSY. June 25, 201213 yr An alternative to this distorted view concept is to run the three monitors as follows: 1. Don't set up the monitors as a single very widescreen (i.e. 5760*1080), but as three separate 1920x1080 screens. This elimnates the use of NVSurround, of course 2. Set up three views, one center with Zoom = .60, one directly right (right arrow with shift key held down(release it last)), same zoom, and one directly left at the same zoom. You can run this windowed or fullscreen. Adjust the zooms to get the merge at your bezel to be just right. 3. Get the freeware utilities called PanelRestore so that when after you SAVE this view config as a FLT file, you can easily restore it the next time you want to use it. This looks better to me - objects are not distorted and this emulates looking straight left and right for approaches to the runway - except the horizon is bent. June 25, 201213 yr One other thought - you may be able to try this concept even with NVSurround still enabled - you would just run FSX in windowed mode - not full screen. When you create a new view, just right click to undock it and then move it to one of the side monitors and resize it.
