Entries removed from panel.cfg

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I have some add-ons which add their own entries to the panel.cfg (FSFK, XGauge, ...).

After adding FS2Crew panel entries through Start Center, all those entries are removed. Only default entries stay.

Does anybody know the problem?

Regards, Cyril.

Thanks Bryan,

just wondering, why are you swapping the panel.cfg?

This may actually lead to problems. If I install some gauge (e.g. XGauge from ActiveSky) and then FS2Crew it leaves backed up panel.cfg with reference to XGauge. When I later (for whatever reason) uninstall ActiveSky first and then FS2Crew, I have panel.cfg with reference to non-existent XGauge which for sure will lead to problems.

Wouldn't it be more secure to edit the file directly? It's just simple text file with well-known format.

Regards, Cyril.

Hi Cyril,

Editing directly can be fraught with risk. It'll work 99 percent of the time, but there's always that 1 percent where the user has done something really weird with the panel.cfg and the whole thing gets messed up.
