It has been a long 6 or 7 months, long and hard as we try to establish this forum, and make it a pleasant and enjoyable place for those who like and use Flight. And it is important to show appreciation and support for the moderator who is taking a great part in this effort.

 

It is not easy for him, because inevitably he becomes the target of the disgruntled and angry people who are still coming here sowing discord and seeking negativity. In all my years at Avsim, I have established some simple rules so that I am part of the solution, and not part of the problem:

 

Rule no.1 - Trust the Moderators. Their goal is to keep the forum a safe and pleasant place. They have the experience and the knowledge of what needs to be done to achieve that goal.

 

Rule no. 2 - Trust the Moderators! Everybody thinks they know better than the mods, but it is not true. Trust the moderators!

 

Rule no. 3 - Don't reply to trolls. Or to provocateurs, to the angry, the spiteful, the troublemakers. This just creates conflict, everybody gets upset, it all snowballs, and quickly the forum becomes unlivable. That is why:

 

Rule no. 4 - Trust the Moderators! They will do what it takes to get things back to normal, to bring the forum back to its function as a place to share fun and enjoyment.

 

My new Rule no. 5 - The Ignore List is an easy and efficient way to avoid having to read the trolls and the disgruntled and angry people. By not reading them, I don't get upset and am not tempted to get into arguments that are trivial and make the forum an unpleasant place. I urge everybody to use the Ignore List.

 

So, thanks, Jeroen, for your efforts. This forum has gotten much, much better (although there are still troublemakers coming here long after release of the game!) But, your attitude and actions make this a good place for us who like Flight and are having fun with it.

First of all: thanks for the kind words. And the wise words: I of course agree with everything you said, hahaha!!!

 

But I'd like to say that even though I may be the main Flightforum-mod, some other mods do look after this forum too: I need to sleep every now and then. And I am not the first mod here too: there have been a few others. And as nice as the gesture is, it IS slightly off topic... and a bit awkward and odd to have a topic like this here. Some people might feel obliged to post kind words they don't really mean LOL!

 

So, if you don't mind, I will lock this topic. Again, your words are much appreciated but it would be odd to not lock this one. (At first I wanted to delete the entire topic... maybe I will after all. Don't really know what to do with this LOL)
