July 6, 201213 yr Im new to this forum but I am having a critical issue with reinstalling FSX. For some reason (and I completely uninstalled FSX) everytime I try to reinstall FSX, it'll get to the halfway point, and give me an error along the lines of "ai_player.dll error". And that'll be the end of it! I've tried countless times to see what this is and to no avail have I have any success! Please help! Thanks!
July 6, 201213 yr There are a lot of hidden directories and entries in the system registry that mostly remain after uninstalling FSX. This is the first time I've ever heard of this type of error when installing/reinstalling FSX. AI_Player.dll is located in the main FSX directory and was updated by Acceleration/SP2. Did you uninstall Acceleration too? Did you uninstall FSX addon programs that might have been using the module? Did you run a registry cleaner before reinstalling? One of the uninstall programs I like is called the IOBit Uninstaller (Google it)(it's free). It not only uninstalls your programs but also looks throughout your system for anything left over, including the system registry. It then asks if you want to delete that folder or delete the registry items too. Hope this helps. Best regards, Jim
July 6, 201213 yr Author Thanks Jim! Hopefully this will work. I am trying to locate everything at the moment! Thanks. I will let you know if theres anything else!
July 6, 201213 yr like is called the IOBit Uninstaller +++1 Jim. I too use this to flush the Registry out but has to be used with care(Advanced setting) as it can also wipe out the whole of FSX as I found out to my cost when flushing PMDG out. Rick Almeida
July 6, 201213 yr Good suggestion Rick! Well I mentioned this program as he's trying to completely uninstall then reinstall FSX so he would want it to wipe out the whole of FSX. Sounds like he left a lot of stuff behind even though he thought everything was uninstalled. I really haven't used it too much with FSX or FSX addons but it does a great job everytime I do uninstall something. Best regards, Jim
