I have an annoying occurrence that when it first appeared was limited to the Dreamfleet 310 since I fly that more than anything else. Over this weekend I've discovered (by flying several different aircraft) that it's affecting more than just the 310. At this point, I've seen this in the DF Archer, DF Cardinal, Default Baron, Default C182, Airheads Deke, the IK DC9, the F1 C152 and the FSD Seneca. It's too widespread to be any one product or aircraft. It has to be something in my system but I'm at a complete loss for what. When I thought it was a DF issue, I posted something similar to this over there. I received a couple of suggestions but those haven't led to a solution and now, that I'm finding it is more systemic, I thought I'd try over here..and if I knew how, I'd post a link but I don't so here's essentially what I put over at DF.Randomly and on an un-predictable but repeating basis the forward view is cloned to one of the other views. It usually happens when changing views but has occurred, albeit infrequently, when FS Meteo and the built-in MS weather updates. On a three hour flight, I can expect it to occur two - three times. Both the weather engines cause a brief flash and then the view out the front changes without any input from the operator. The panel is still present but the view through the front window changes to the view out the side, or straight down, and in a couple of instances, to the rear. For clarity, the main panel and guages are still there but the view through the plexiglass changes. When it's associated with a view change, it always occurs coming back to the front, but doesn't always do it. For example, I'm flying left base. I change to the LF view to check position, then come back to the front. When I come back the forward panel/guages re-load(s), but the actual view through the window is something else. And not necessarily where I had been. I did this very thing once, (left base, check LF) and when the forward view loaded, I had an instrument panel and the view looking through the front windshield was actually the aft view. I could see the objects retreating away from me.I use the 2D cockpit mostly. And haven't noted it occurring in the VC but I don't use that very much. I prefer the 2D. And the only fix I've found is to re-load the airplane. Changing and/or cycling views doesn't help. Only way I can see normally is to re-load the aircraft.I sim with a PFC Cirrus II and the views are mapped to switch controls on the Avionics Stack. Have the lastest registered version of FSUIPC and the PFC driver. It's not possible to pan on my rig due to no hat switch.Video is a Radeon 9XXX pro or something like that...I don't recall what the actual name is but it is a Radeon. The Display Driver says it's version 7.95-03028m-011774C-ATI if that means anything to anyone...I've attached a screenie that illustrates one example of this. I was taxiing, shifted the view to Left/Front prior to making a turn, and came back to a View Forward. What you're looking at is the View Forward Selection, with the panel but the outside view is looking straight down. If anyone can help with this, I sure would appreciate it. Thank youBobL

Bob,You have a very nasty DirectX problem. The most likely cause would be the video card or driver. But in the DirectX environment it could also even be your sound card/driver. 3rd possibility is that your DirectX drivers themselves are corrupt. Usually this is a longshot, but with a problem this severe this is a distinct possibility. This one is a bad one as you will likely need to reinstall Windows. This is all assuming you are not running on the Windows 9X platform. But if you are, that is likely your problem.I hope this helps. I know this kind of problem can be frustrating.http://www.fsd-international.com/team/TD_forum_sig.gif

Hi Bob,It certainly sounds like a corrupt "something" and I believe that you can try a clean uninstall and re-install of the LATEST version of your ATI video drivers. The ati site as a "catalyst uninstall utility" to completely uninstallthe previous version of your drivers. After you uninstall and reboot as required, do NOT click OK/yes when windows redetecs your ATI card, click CANCEL, CANCEL...etc... until you can re-install the new drivers you downloaded.*Here is the link to the ATI driver uninstaller program:http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/misc/catalystutils.html*Here is the main ATI driver download page where you choose your ati card and windows version:http://www.ati.com/support/driver.htmlAlso, re-installing directX which may be corrupt (as mentioned already) would certainly not hurt. THere is a way to re-install Direct X OVER your existing version but remember that DX cannot be uninstalled, just re-installed over itself. Go to this site to download version 9.0b:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=enHope this helps.John

Hey Bob,As TimD described above I would bow towards it being a Directx problem.Do you have the latest Directx distrobution? What Operating system are you using? XP Home? XP Pro? Win 9X? Win 2000?To see if you are running the latest Directx, which by the way is 9.0b. Open up a browser. Then go to the TOOLS menu, in that menu there is a selection called "Windows Update". Select that and i will load up the WU page. It may ask you to install an updated program, say yes to that. In the list of updates is dirextx 9b in there? If so install it.Or you can reinstall DX9b from here if you hace it install already:Cut and paste the link into your browser if it is not complete!!http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=enThen after that is installed install new ATI drivers:Here: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=785If you feel you want you can try and install new audio drivers too. If you need help let me know!!

TimOn the off chance I could avoid a Windows Reinstall, I followed the suggestions of the posts below yours, i.e. reinstalled Direct X and de-installed/re-installed the ATI drivers and alas, it didn't help. So, it looks like I'm going to need to do a re-install of windows...Here's the question...My XP Pro operating system resides as a dual boot OS on a logical drive (E:) by itself. I still have some pre-XP apps that won't run under XP so Windows ME is sitting on C: XP Pro is sitting on E:So, when I reinstall Windows, does it need to be a clean install meaning to format E: or do you think installing Windows on top of the present install will cure the issue??Thanks so much for you helpBobL

I'm not so sure that the dual boot system, and having Windows ME in the mix, is not the cause of your problems. I hope you don't have Windows ME for the purpose of running Flight Simulator, as that is almost sure-fire way to get bad results in DirectX 9 applications. My suggestion would be to try and find what is causing the conflict first. You might end up right where you started by reinstalling Windows. But that notwithstanding, it always worth a try in Windows XP to attempt the "repair present installation" option, to see if that solves the issue. If that does not help, then go nuclear.http://www.fsd-international.com/team/TD_forum_sig.gif

I appreciate the help. I'll try the reinstall option first. No, I'm not keeping ME around for FS. I have a mid 1980's vintage graphing software and some early 1990's educational software that I'm just too cheap to pay for the upgrades.I sim completely on XP.I'll let you know after I do the repair option.BobL
