July 17, 201213 yr I haven't had to reload a flight in a long time. Perhaps the last was before SP1c, but I do not remember a problem with FMC after the reloads before. I do know that it is important to put on "slew" mode before releasing "pause" to allow NGX to initialize without losing altitude and direction. After it completes, releasing the "slew" always put me back into the flight with correct IRS position and FMC routing. Today I had to reload a saved enroute situation and used the same technique to initialize the flight but FMC data was completely corrupted. When I attempted to go to the "perf" page I got a "fatal error". Reloaded FSX and tried again. This time I also reloaded my flight plan (which I have always made a practice of saving after I have completed my FMC programming before my startup). When I entered the title into "company route" the flight plan came up and requested I select the correct enroute waypoint. Climb, cruise, and descent pages were correctly recreated but transition altitude/level had to be reentered. The "perf" page was totally corrupted, however. I was able to re-enter ZFW and Reserve, CI, and Flight Level but I could not re-enter "planned fuel". The entry showed only "0" before the "/" with the correct current fuel load displayed after the "/". All my autopilot functions were now restored and after selecting correct "next" waypoint from the "legs" page was able to activate both Vnav and Lnav and resume the flght. BUT, the FMC progress page was displaying only "0" for fuel remaining at all waypoints including destination. As a result I was periodically receiving the "insufficient fuel" warning. It appears that FMC is using my "plan fuel" entry as a starting point and then subtracting my "fuel used" to obtain the fuel remaining at each waypoint. My ZFW is thus displaying as my total current upweight and no longer taking into account the "actual" fuel remaining in its calculations. Obviously in RW, you would never be able to resume a flight midair, but since it is a common necessity with FSX, is there not a way to correct this "plan fuel" entry or some procedure to regain the correct fuel remaining displays in the progress and approach pages? Again, I don't remember this being an issue at all with previous versions.
July 17, 201213 yr Author UPDATE: At first it seemed that I would be able to continue the flight even though it was logging "0" fuel in the FMC but on short final it gave FMC warning. When I opened FMC window it displayed: unable speed 1098765576378993 at Rwy12. When I attempted to edit it = instant FSX lockup and I had to use taskmanager to even exit to the desktop. Taskmgr showed FSX in continuous loop in one of my cores. Tried to switch cores but still FSX would not respond. I used to be able to save flights at various stages of flight to practice single-engine go-arounds and different emergency approaches and never had any issues. Is anyone else experiencing this? Anyone know of a workaround? I have UT2 and AS2012 active but tried to reload situation with ONLY FSX running and encountered the same corrupted FMC data. I have not submitted a ticket on this yet hoping to get some feedback first from the forum users.
