FSWidgets have released SimTAWS, the newest application in their mobile suite of products. SimTAWS is a cloud based Terrain Awareness and Warning System available now for the iPhone platform. SimTAWS works with FSX, FS9 and X-Plane (Windows and Mac) providing a hand-held TAWS that warns aurally and visually of impending flight into terrain. Powered by the FSWidgets Terrain Rendering engine, SimTAWS provides warnings and alerts for Forward Looking Terrain Avoidance (FLTA) as well as excessive descent rates. Visually it provides four different color coded terrain views with high resolution 90 meter terrain sampling.
