Rick , its been my policy to always have the library files on top of the Avsim Front Page , why ? because I wish to have the file library take precedence over all payware promotions and to advance the work of our library contributors, the privilege of hosting their work has been my morning focus for a decade. On occasion an event or important Notam takes priority over my normal placement format on the Front Page , this is one of those occasions, Flight Angels is a charitable event of some magnitude, quite possibly the largest charitable Flight Simulation event ever held and promoting this is very much an indication of where Avsims heart lies . We are honored to support a cause like Flight Angels in the way we can, that being to spread the word. Having in sim editors for livery and mission creation is a perfectly acceptable means of introducing the casual simmer to making their own content , the professional developer would be using Photoshop CS and working on sets of liveries and likely would make little use of these particular tools. FWIW , the method LM used for SDK access and distribution has been a model of utility and comprehensiveness. If that paradigm is followed you will have no complaints from myself or the people I work with. The area where there are likely to be disconsolations is distribution, as it is the remuneration is such we only " sell " to steam that which has been thoroughly marketed before in all the other platforms, as long as the current margin exists the product selection available to Steam users will be somewhat dated, C Jodry

Black Box Simulation is the only developer who is permanently banned here at Avsim, and has had news release privileges suspended for a similar period. While a sad story there have been a number of emails exchanged over the years between BBS and Avsim's management with the above result. Best CJ

The App data folders remain, you might want to use windows uninstall program and then give reinstalling a shot . Best CJ

Hello Bert , the mixture levers need to be clicked first then set to full rich . the other was to click the mixture levers and use the keyboard Ctrl Shift F3. Best CJ

We agree that the policy can lead to omissions , that said it has eliminated Editorial Bias for nearly 10 years, there were occasions pre 2007 where FP News Articles were published by associates for associates, also our biggest competition will only publish releases in their store and only review products in their store. Avsim is run by volunteers but a number of us are also developers , myself I have produced Addons for a dozen companies over a decade and through our policy have not been in a position where I am obliged to allow or deny favors because all and every article posted has ascribed to the same criteria for publication. It is Avsims policy to be unbiased in its promotion of the hobby and this is one of the means that policy is promoted, it may seem curious at first glance until one knows why the policy was followed for all these years. They wanted over $400 CDN for the replacement bulb in my projector , happily with the thing set for 50% brightness I have not had to replace the bulb , I got the unit in 2008 , Its still hooked up to the network and will run any of the inputs the other 4 monitors carry, be it the computers, TV or VCR. About the only thing I don't like using it for is simming , the panel being 72 " wide makes a 182 look like its as big as the office in a 380. Best CJ

Nice unit , I use a projector to watch movies when I want to go for that Big Screen Cinema feeling . Its the bulb in these things that costs a fortune , you will see in the setup menu a setting for luminosity / brightness , If you set that to 50% your bulb will last nearly forever. Other thing is I have always painted one wall white so as to use as a screen , makes the projector screen disappear when not in use, very discreet. Best CJ

One can turn off the smoke by removing that section from the aircraft .cfg . Best CJ

Perhaps the installed version of Dropbox that syncs up a folder on your HD will be ok , the browser version has size limits. I too have DB installed on a machine running Vista but get the feeling I will need to update the OS on that machine sooner rather than later, as much as I like Vista its no longer supported / updated by most addon software like Chrome, etc Best CJ

The Donation Counter does reset every month , the $ 3000 figure would cover the bandwidth costs and data center were it attained. In my recollection we came close once but typically it takes the combined revenue of the advertising and donations to keep us going . The fly in the ointment is we can never afford to replace the servers or other equipment before they fail, I have faith in the current system but as time passes and it gets closer to the rated service life I know we will need to replace them in a couple of years or go for a cloud based system and its associated expenses. Typically this is due to graphics cards not being able to keep up with the load , do you have an older machine running with high settings ? Turning the aircraft shadows off will probably free up some gpu cycles as that duplicates the mesh. Best CJ

Will it be the same SDK as used in MS Flight ? with LUA extensions and 3ds Max for content production, it was a sweet piece of kit and never did see release. Best CJ

Hello , as part of the dev team I had recieved a note there was an issue and tested this today not finding any problem , i would advise you install it again as an admin and make sure that the sound setting for cockpit is not at a lower level than the other two in the fsx sound settings menu . Hey Rob , guess you noticed i never changed my login name, as its always the same at every website and with every upload it makes tracking down some of those addons fairly easy , they ended up being re uploaded everywhere, originally only to AVSIM , the readme stated they were not to be uploaded elsewhere but as luck would have it they were and survived the hack. . Most of the Vehicles can still be found , the ATAT Walker , Jeep and Harley V Rod are still out there , as is the Hindenburg, Sceneries are harder to find , i still see the BORG Cube around, i didnt find any of the Hard Landing Series, they were challenges used during On Line sessions and were only available at WCATC. My more recent work ( post 2008 ) has been released primarily as payware, starting with the Dreamfleet Dakota, ESDG Cirrus SR22, Vertigo F6F. there are dozens more , I try to keep a low profile but have won my gold stars, most recent release was the F4E from Milviz, where i also did a couple of choppers , the 407 and MD530, Stuka , Baron , P38. All in all there are about 40 releases, i have kept busy .
