  3. Eagerly awaited for Prepar3D "Lukla - Mount Everest Extreme" has now finally been released! Probably the most exciting collection of thrilling airports in FS history: Among the icon Lukla and many others there's Syangboche even higher up the valley as well as a new major airport at an elevation of more than 13,000 ft that is currently under construction north of the Mount Everest. “Gateway to Mount Everest” and “World's Most Dangerous Airport” are certainly the most commonly used attributes for Lukla – an airport that seems out of this world. There are airports that are higher (see Tingri included in this add-on). There may be airports that have a shorter runway or an even worse upwards slope of the runway. Others have a mountain wall at the end of its runway. What makes Lukla standing out is its combination of all those factors in one single airport! Not enough thrill for you? Count in weather as a factor. No navigational aids. Limited documentation of approach and takeoff routes. An uncontrolled airpace with fixed wing aircraft and helicopters. Bring your engines (and brakes!) to their limits by heading up the valley to Syangboche, a bumpy airstrip located even higher and surrounded by rocks high above a steep valley. Or try to find a helicopter that can reach helipads at these altitudes or even land at the Mount Everest basecamp, located right next to sharp glacier pinnacles between rock outcrops. This package is a successor to "Lukla X – Mount Everest", one of our most popular sceneries of the past decade that has won many awards – among them the Simflight Award. This new version is a completely new development setting the bar even higher, coming with much more content than the previous version. Features: 5 highly detailed airports with all buildings and clutter objects like vegetation, people, animals, vehicles and more: VNLK Lukla VNSB Syangboche VNPL Phaplu VNKL Kangel Danda VNRT Rumjatar 7 generic airports with details like tower positions, ground layout and thrilling hand-edited terrain: VNKD Man Maya Khanidanda VNBJ Bhojpur VNTR Tumlingtar VNRC Ramechhap VNJI Jiri VNTJ Taplejung Suketar VNLD Lamidanda 12 helipads, most of them at very high altitudes A whopping coverage area of 200x200 kilometres Detailed hand-edited mesh terrain More than 366 thousand cultivation buildings More than 60 million (!) individually placed trees in their respective vegetation areas (e.g. shrubs in the alpine areas, tropical trees in the valley rain forests) A hand-edited and geo-referenced combination of satellite imagery with higher resolutions around the core areas, smooth transition to default scenery Modelled points of interest like hanging bridges, stupas, etc. Detailed mesh with rock and glacier outcrops around Mt. Everest Basecamp making helicopter landings there as challenging as they really are PBR-like sun and window reflections, bumpy terrain, water effects during rain or snow Night illumination in Lukla Extensive manual with custom made maps and airport charts Free bonus: Semi-fictional to-be-build large “Tingri Airport” north of Mount Everest CON: Not a single airport with a flat runway Visit the Lukla - Mount Everest Extreme Product Page for further information.

  7. "A suggestion : you should pin on this forum a post linking to the front page article or maybe this thread. I must admit that I generally go straight to the forum index when hitting Avsim. I may not be alone" I figure I have do so when I unpin it from the Front Page, mention was made of doing so by the moderators , I had thought one among them would have done so already but perhaps they were waiting for me to do so even though I never pin topics in the forums .

  12. Announcing the Zenith 701 for P3D from Lionheart Creations, the fun and adventurous “Sky Jeep”. A project 2 years in the making, through direct cooperation with Zenith Aircraft Corporation. The 701 was modeled from CAD data provided by Zenith and developed using the latest PBR shaders for P3D 4.4 and above. This sim aircraft is modeled within 1MM of its real world counterpart and looks stunning on full 4K textures with lower resolution textures available for those who need it. The Zenith 701, designed and first introduced in 1986 by Chris Heintz, is a “STOL” (Short TakeOff and Landing) aircraft, powered by the now legendary Rotax 912 100HP air cooled engine. It has amazing low speed handling thanks to its full length flap/aileron combo and great short field performance. With its large tires and low stall speed, it truly earns its title as the “Sky Jeep”. In flight sims, this product is perfect for the more adventurous or “bush” pilots that like to take things low-and-slow. The Zenith 701 pack for P3D 4.4+ comes with 5 HD liveries, an optimized 3D model based on manufacturer CAD models, sounds recorded from a real Zenith 701, and a flight model tested by multiple real-life pilot and owners. All for .95! In cooperation with Zenith Aircraft, they will be offering a limited time, .95 off of the Zenith 701 “starter kit” http://www.zenithair.com/stolch701/rudder.html (retails for 5), the rudder of the real aircraft. Build a piece of the real aircraft and see if building your own aircraft is right for you, or simply have it as part of your home sim rig, or a great office/conversation piece. This will help bridge the gap between sim and real life even further! The initial release is not the end of the Lionheart’s 701 story. Just like the aircraft this was built on, we plan on many free mods an expansions. First, we will release a layered paint kit for user made custom liveries! Shortly after, we plan on releasing a non-PBR version for FSX/P3D 4.3 and lower for those who have not upgraded. After that? The skies the limit! Please join us https://www.facebook.com/Gibbageart/ for updates and a roadmap of upgrades planned for post-release (130HP SuperJeep? Amphibian?).
  13. Online flying network VATSIM is set to launch a brand new voice communications system on Monday 14th October. Audio for VATSIM (AFV) brings not just a new Opus-based codec, but also a full VHF and HF voice simulation complete with optional highly realistic VHF and HF distortion, range degradation and much more. The system includes a worlwide database of ATC transceivers and a reduction in latency of up to 80% compared with the current system, reducing the likelihood of crossed transmissions. The heart of AFV is a highly realistic VHF and HF radio simulation, with voice processing effects verified by real-world professional pilots and air traffic controllers. The concept of 'voice rooms' hosted by a controller is removed, meaning pilots can transmit voice on any frequency at any time. Range effects and degradation are simulated, with aircraft radio range primarily dependent upon altitude. The further the receiver is from a transmission's source, the more crackly and degraded the signal becomes. It is possible that in some areas pilots may find themselves in realistic radio 'dead zones' where they are unable to make voice contact with a controller, just like in real life. Voice UNICOM -- artificially range limited to reduce the number of non-pertinent transmissions received -- will be available from launch. It is anticipated that voice CTAF on discrete frequencies will eventually replace the single-frequency UNICOM system once further work has been completed to support this transition. Oceanic and remote continental communications are also revolutionised through the ground-breaking High Frequency (HF) radio simulation. For ATC stations defined with frequencies in the HF band, AFV provides a unique 'frequency alias' system -- pilots tune their VHF radio to the station's designated 'alias' frequency and the AFV system automatically internally converts this to the HF band, allowing all users to access these services. After release, an SDK will also be made available for aircraft developers who wish to enable direct HF tuning via their own in-cockpit HF radio gauges. The system also incorporates realistic half-duplex operation -- when a pilot or controller transmits, they will be unable to hear any other transmissions on their frequency until they release their PTT switch. When two or more stations transmit simultaneously, other users will hear a realistic heterodyne tone and a garbled mix of both transmissions. Audio for VATSIM is a totally free upgrade for all VATSIM members, who will be required to perform a small update to their pilot or controller clients to support the upgrade. More information can be found at the official AFV website https://audio.vatsim.net/.

  17. Real-time Simulation Of Passengers & Cabin Crew For X-Plane, P3D and FSX. Just launched a new application for all simulators called "Self-Loading Cargo" which simulates passengers in real-time Each passenger has their own randomised personality based on age, health, hunger, thirst, happiness, anxiety, how much they've had to drink and how much they need the toilet... the value of each of these affects their reaction to various events that happen during the flight, meaning no flight is the same. You can see how much affect your actions (or inactions!) are having during the course of the flight with real-time notifications, and will receive a grade and explanations of everything that happened during the course of the flight once you land. Its designed to bring a bit of life to the cruise, and a challenge to the landing (there's a landing rate monitor built in) instead of every flight being a monotonous A to B experience
  18. Flight One Software is pleased to announce that FS Effects has now been updated to include a new Flight Data Recording feature. The new Flight Data Recording feature stores high accuracy, rich flight data, in a Garmin G1000-format CSV log file that can be viewed with Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications. FS Effects flight data log files can be imported directly by flight debriefing tools such as CloudAhoy, so any simulated flight recorded with FS Effects can be imported and reviewed as if the flight was made in an actual aircraft. FS Effects is a unique add-on for FSX, FSX Steam Edition, Prepar3Dv3, and Prepar3Dv4 that provides a more realistic flight experience. 23. Boy o Boy its been a long time since I did that RV8 for VS , I remember I sent the sounds for that through the effects bus , I bet that worked in 64 bit, wonder if the stearman works too ... the kitty I am sure its sound gauge would need swapping out . Regarding v4.5 my last out was the MV PC6 with PBR and all sorts of 64 bit dll's running its full on compatible, the doors come off , not normally aspirated but not too fast too , sure goes slow very well with a few degrees of flaps Best CJ
  24. +1 As the FDE author / coder / modeller of the MV-B407 I cant agree more with the requested features, Working with the currently supported helo flight model one is required to hack and backdoor much of what one expects from choppers , recently Milviz went so far as to add a module to run outside the sim to hack / control the flight dynamics still further. It would be a pleasure to see turbine engines better represented as well as Rotary flight , developers have come up with the codebase needed to generate both , it is my ardent hope that MS makes use of these advances . its all a question of communication . Best CJ
