June 3, 200422 yr Hi all,I've been trying to enjoy Eric Joiner's wonderful white and orange navy paint scheme on my Carenado Mentor, but facing a strange problem. The textures load up fine the first or second time I start a saved flight, but then on the third or fourth I lose all textures for the right wing, elevators and some other details. On starting the flight a third time I usually get an entirely gray airplane- but all VC cockpit textures are fine (from both within and viewing in spot)! To "fix" the problem, I can re-install Eric's textures over the old install and all is well again... for a couple of flights. Because the VC textures remain OK I have to assume its something particular to Eric's work, but can't for the life of me figure out what.Anyone have an idea what could be happening here? I get no similar problem with the stock Carenado paint schemes, and have never seen this on another aircraft.Any help appreciated,Joel
June 3, 200422 yr One more interesting detail to note- if I try to select Eric's paint scheme in the "Aircraft Select" menu, I see the same texture problem on the spinning plane there.. ie grey model, no textures. The Carenado paints appear normally there, so whatever is occuring it is pretty consistent at least...Best,Joel
June 30, 200421 yr Well I have started to have the same problem with the PMDG 1900D. When I try to select the aircraft the first spinning plane has textures and then when I try to select a different paint it comes up with only the tail textures in place, if I change to another paint or back to the first one there are no textures and when I start the sim the textures are not there. I wonder if this is some sort of memory problem, that is not having enough? I currently only have 512 MB but that gets eatin' up pretty fast with all of PAI's offerings as well as some other add on flight plans, scenery etc. If anyone has any solid information on a cause or cure please let me know. I may try to get some more memory today and see if this cures the problem, if it does I'll post it here. Thanks,Philip Olsonhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg
June 30, 200421 yr Hmmm.I have one idea of what that could be. The textures are 32 bit. You might try compiling them as dxt3, which uses much less video memory. You'll lose a little detail, but not much. I suspect that may fix your problem.Eric AND
June 30, 200421 yr It is the solution, I tried that and all is well. Smoother panning in spot view, too...Best,Joel
