July 24, 201213 yr Hi Everyone, i am quite new to Flightsimulation and have purchased fsx but am having problems getting it started. I have a machine that is good requirement wise and it is running windows 7 that i believe can be an issue. When i install fsx it all goes okay but no icon appears on my desktop and i dont seem to be able to generate one. And when i go into my computer to try to start the game it wont load and disc 2 does not begin to Run in the disc drive. Help!
July 24, 201213 yr It's tough to help you out from what you've posted. If you go to c:\program files(x86)\Microsoft games\flight simulator x can you find and run fsx.exe? Please also post your full system specs, including your os version. I'm a little unsure about what you mean when you say the second disk won't run, can your drive read the disk at all? July 24, 201213 yr You do not need to have the 2nd disk in the drive to run FSX. Sounds like you did not fully install FSX. Reinsert Disk 1 and, when the menu pops up, click on Repair. It will then reinstall FSX. Once installed, you'll have to activate. Have you activated it yet? If there's no icon on the desktop, then click on the Start button, select All Programs then look for FSX probably under Microsoft Games. Best regards, Jim
July 25, 201213 yr I've also had the problem of not having a desktop icon when I first installed FSX on Win7- maybe that's kind of a bug of the installer?- , but I just went into the FSX directory and created a desktpo shortcut for fsx.exe. Other than that, there should be a shortcur in your User/Games file. If that doesn't work, you'll have to do a repair/reinstall, as Jim has already stated. Cheers Flo Florian
