Building Crash Issues

Featured Replies

 Hi all! is there any way around the odd freeware airport that has a building crash eg while taxing? i know turning off crashes etc might help but takes the realism out of the whole thing.

And it`s quite annoying to pan while flying only to have a building crash at 35000 ft.

Actually, I think you've answered your own question in part. Building crashes in airport sceneries do, IMHO, reflect poor design and/or poor attention to detail on the part of the designer, but the only way I know to deal with them, if you must use sceneries which have that problem, is to turn crash detection off in FS9.

For what it's worth, I"ll also point out that even if you do turn crash detection off, your a/c can still crash. Only crashes caused by external objects other than the ground/terrain are no longer recognized which, if you use the default MS ATC and have other "traffic" in the skies with you, can be a good thing since the default ATC is perfectly willing to allow, say, a Boeing 747 to fly right up your tail on final approach, etc. Being blotted out of the sky while on final after a multi-hour flight due to the limited (at best) default ATC and complete lack of proper traffic control isn't exactly "realistic" either.

Contact the author and let him know about the crash. Try to specify precisely at what position the crash happens.

The author/designer of the scenery may not be aware of the crash and may either send you an updated BGL or better yet release an update of the scenery.

Edit: changed the font size to something more readable.
