DC10-30 Step Climb

Featured Replies

Hi All,Does anyone know how to properly step-climb the DC10-30?I'm using the FFX SGA DC10 which fies real nice but am having much trouble trying to find info on how to fly it, at least reasonably realistically. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks.Al W

Download the Dc10 manual from the library: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=16550But to keep things simple, start your climb with a reasonable climb speed (refer to documentation). Also, once you get to higher alititudes, lower your climb rate to about 500 fpm. When that speed starts to drop, level off at that point, and build back up your speed. Stay at that altitude until you burn off some fuel, then try to climb again. If you start losing speed, level off right away. If you can hold a steady climb speed, keep climbing. Repeat until you reach your cruise altitude. To put it simply, if you are climbing at a shallow rate (500 fpm or so) and losing speed, level off. If you are keeping a constant speed, climb.
