August 4, 201213 yr Hi Guys, I am thinking of installing FS9 on my laptop as FSX + complex add-ons can sometimes result in big FPS hits. Before I do this I was wondering if FS9 users could help answering some questions. For background - my laptop is a Dell Studio Windows 7 Intel Core Duo @ 2.1 GHz (over clocked to 2.9 Ghz) 3 GB RAM and AMD Radeon HD 4570 Video Card (512 MB). I already have bundled FS2004 versions of a few pay ware aircraft I purchased for FSX (Digital Aviation Cheyenne, Lionheart Kodiak etc). My questions are: FPS Performance – This is the most important thing for me. Can I run a complex aircraft with a virtual cockpit (for e.g. DA Cheyenne) + REX + Scenery add-ons at a continuous high and smooth FPS performance i.e. 35-40+ FPS including airports and cities? Also what are the best scenery (not airports) products for FSX. In FSX I use Orbx. I am very happy with the REX + ORBX combo. Any other advice/recommendations that I should keep in mind. I understand there will be loss of eye candy compared to FSX but I am ok with that as long as I can get smooth performance. All advice appreciated, thanks.
