  1. I guess I was lucky, never had a CTD problem with FSX generally and the Cheyenne specifically
  2. Great find, will check it out, thanks!
  3. The GPS native to Cheyenne (Trimble) is pretty good and as far as I know a decent reproduction of the authentic GPS (which itself is dated). I found it great and a welcome change from the default FSX GPS. But yeah agree its a little less user friendly than the FSX GPS - but once you get the hang of it - its great and adds to the experience. If I remember correctly (and I could be wrong because it was a couple of years back) the download page contained both the executables for FSX and FS9.
  4. For what it's worth - I bought the Cheyenne after I got the duke and didn't find it lacking despite its vintage. As much as I liked the duke, I think I ended up flying the Cheyenne more. I don't know what it is - but that Cheyenne has something special. I would highly recommend getting the plane - one of the gems of FSX.
  5. +1 - still one of the best planes out there! A joy to fly.
  6. The simple reason Orbx did a better job of the textures relative to MS ACES is the same reason A2A did a better job with the 172 and PMDG with the 747 - specialisation, time and new more capable hardware. A saying along the lines of standing on the shoulders of giants comes to the mind. The alternate (and better) question the OP may ask is how no one else has managed to make a more feature rich simulator since FSX a few years ago.
  7. Hi Olli, was interested in knowing if they work in default scenery? Thanks
  8. $33?? Will it deliver better graphics or smoother/faster fps? Will wait for user reviews.
  9. My favorite is Pacific Fjords - it's a region I keep coming back and exploring again and again and again - and I've not even started on the huge freeware return to misty moorings packages - which will again give me hours of simming pleasure. Stunning geography and climatic variations - huge mountains, fjords, glaciers and rivers. I have PNW too but I prefer PFJ. I haven't bought SAK yet but I assume it is pretty good too. However, I don't think there are as many airports for PFJ as PNW (I could be wrong about this). You can't go wrong with either I guess but a huge thumbs up for PFJ from my side. Edit - Just remembered that PFJ is in Canada but that's like defacto US
  10. The lake renegade looks like a cool aircraft - Wish there was one for FSX! -- Thanks guys - The twin otter looks like a great package but I think maybe a bit bigger than what I was looking for. The Carenado C-185 seems to be a nice cheap compromise with decent speeds and non-sluggish handling at $20 (albeit a little dated) - will most likely get it if can't find another suitaible plane.
  11. Great Shots!
  12. Hi Guys I was wondering if anyone has a good GA amphibian plane recommendation - something suited to exploring Orbx Pacific Fjords? Not too big, but at the same time something with a reasonable amount of power? Amphibian Quality (both land and water landing ability) would be great too - rather than exclusively floats. The above desciption fits the Lion Heart Kodiak well - but I have had that already for a couple of years now and want something new and good quality. Ths smaller cessnas with floats look too sluggish and slow (same for beaver). Any other good float planes on the smaller side out there for FSX that I haven't heard about? Any recommendations would be great! Cheers
  13. If you uninstall background resident programs like REX, Orbx, ATC addons, Weather injectors, Accusim etc - yes it should lead to better performance. (Programs that run in the background). Alternatively - you can keep the programs to mimimum. For e.g. I run Orbx+ReX only (besides the aircraft).
  14. Apologies - my mistake. Re read the whole post and yes I did indeed miss that sentence. I think I learnt my lesson. Also Just for the record - I don't own either GEX or FTX-G yet but interested in hearing about both for now.
  15. Funny how a thread with the title containing the words 'The Truth' doesn't mention one product will cost more than double to get the same coverage.
  16. It's pretty easy to disable it. Faster than it takes to type this. It may be better for you to get the demo first. Not sure if how many of my FSX addons (Orbx and Non Orbx) came with uninstallers. But yeah would be good if all addons came with uninstallers.
  17. Hi I was wondering - How many regions\total price would I have to get for GEX world coverage?

  19. Nice writeup! Hope there are more to come - enjoyed reading it. Best of luck in your new career!
