Powerpoint viewer & FS2004

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of any unwanted side-effects of installingPowerpoint viewer on FS2004, like:running in the background (like Messenger)or unwanted pop-upsor with other programs such as: dll file difficultiesor clashes with Window Media Playeror clashes with Photoshop?I'd like to use the program but don't want any downside.Peter Sydney Australia

G'Day Peter,On what operating system did you want to install the PowerPoint viewer ? As far as I know there is only an older one that came out at the time of Windows 98. It may not have any impact if installed under Windows XP (I have the WordViewer installed under XP), but there is no guarantee that it won't overwrite a system DLL as it is not aware of the features that XP has to run different versions of DLLs side-by-side. I have the PowerPoint viewer installed on my old Win98 machine and it is no problem there, but this does not have FS2004.Another option is OpenOffice (www.openoffice.org) which I just installed on Windows XP. It can read and write PowerPoint and Excel and it is free !Cheers,Siggy

Hi Peter,I have used the PowerPoint viewer on my WinXP computer for a long time now with no unwanted side effects. I have FS2004 as well as all the other apps you mentioned installed on this computer.

Yes, I have all the above mentioned programs installed as well, and everything works ok! :-)rgrds fredrik granfors
