April 9, 200323 yr Watching the news and seeing the inside of Baghdad airport, I was interested in seeing the flight arrival/departure board, the gates, the terminals.. all... quiet.. it reminded me of a ghost town in the Western US... I'm just wondering.. does anyone know when the last actual commercial flights were going into and out of Baghdad.. and when the very last one was? I'm not talking about the flights that happened in the 90s when the Russians and others were flying in there.. but when it was operating as a normal airport.where can I get this information?ThanksJeff
April 10, 200323 yr Author Hi Jeff,I would imagine sometime between August and September 1990, just after the invasion of Kuwait. I remember BA and Lufthansa announcing the 'temporary' suspension of flights to Baghdad and Kuwait shortly after that incident. You could try to find information on UN resolutions and sanctions imposed after the invasion here: http://www.un.org/Docs/sc/unsc_search.htmlUnfortunately, I can't get it to work - it just keeps returning blank pages...Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
