Hey guys, just got Flight Simulator the other day and really enjoying my experiances on it so far. Now I know you can download files etc to get other aircrafts/texures etc.

 

Now, i've got winrar and I know how to extract files etc, due to doing it with other games (e.g Football Manager).

 

So I've looked at different "guides" to double make sure what im doing is right, but nothing seems to work when I download the aircraft.

 

What i've tried is:

 

- Downloaded the file.

- Extracted the file.

- Copied/pasted the file into Flight Simulator X files/sim objects/airplanes.

- I then load up Flight Simulator.

 

The fnew aircraft i've downloaded arn't there.

 

Is there something im missing? I've been trying to play around with it now, but i've just made a bit of a mess with untidy files.

 

So can anyone help me out? Would be appreciated.

It was the md_11_AA_Package or something.

Was meant to contain various different aircrafts with different airlines such as American Airlines.

 

Also the other was BAW_744V4_FSX.

Which was meant to contain different variations of British Airway aircrafts,

Do you have "show all variations" in the aircraft menu ticked?

Alright. Just a quick and dirty look, I downloaded your first file and file structure is very simple. You can extract the contents directly into your FSX directory with this particular download.

 

Here's a screenshot. The window on the left is the downloaded aircraft after extraction to a temporary folder (like you did). The right side, of course, is the root FSX folder. Copy the CONTENTS of the left red folders to the right ones.

Ok, I did that and still didn't work.

 

@Venustus. Yeah, i've got the box ticked. I tried unticking it and reticking it to see it worked. No difference.

Have you got the folder md-11_AA_package_x.zip in your simobjects/airplanes?

No, i just copied all the content from that folder into the simobjects/airplanes.

 

I have a folder sim objects, which is another folder airplanes in it.

Then i have all the contents in the airplanes folder.

Copy the unzipped folder md-11_AA_package_x.zip directly into your airplanes folder,not the contents inside

Done that, still not working.

 

Ok, from when the point i've extracted the files from winrar into the folder.

 

Do I just copy sounds folder into sounds.

Effects folder into the effects.

md-11_AA_package_x.zip into sim objects, then into airplanes folder.

 

Then load up mfs, then it should work?

 

I've tried it and it's not working. Unless there's something else im missing.

Just realised the problem! I had been putting it into the mfs folder in my *documents. Just went into my computer etc, found the other folder. Tried it and it's loaded my up one plane with the AA. Is that right?

Is the plane loading now?

 

Edit.Yes only the AA livery is included in the package,but you can add further liveries.
