June 18, 200421 yr FPS-Models 1.1Changes from Version 1.0:- Better looking engines and ruddersSince Project AI models are not frame rate friendly, I made replacements for those models, which are not available from AI Aardvark. After replacement of all PAI models you will notice almost no effect on your frame rates, whether there is heavy traffic or no traffic on your airport.Installation:Replace your Project AI A300, A310, A320, A330, A340, and B777 with my fps-models.I recommend to replace Project AI B727, B737, B747, B757 and B767 with AI Aardvark models. You have to download them from my homepage, because Project AI did not allow me to upload on the avsim server. Here is the link: www.tiscalinet.ch/schellhammerPlease, post your opinion on my models!RegardsDaniel
June 18, 200421 yr Umm...I don't quite understand. How can PAI prevent you from uploading models that YOU built? Unless you've included something that is PAI property in your archive (like textures that were created with PAI paintkits or FDE's developed by PAI developers), then they have absolutely no authority to tell you if or where you can upload your work. If your upload package contains only MDLs which are 100% your work and doesn't include anything else, then what control does PAI they have over them?If their textures happen to fit on your model, well, so be it. You can't legally protect the arrangement of model parts on a texture. I remember David Rawlins of AI Aardvark (in his pre-Aardvark days) once released an AI 737-400 model that was compatible with the default Microsoft 737 textures. Since there were a lot of repaints available for the default 737, it was an easy way to re-use available repaints and have a framerate friendly 737 for AI. If what he did was "illegal" then Microsoft would surely have shot this concept down. But there was nothing wrong with doing that...and what you're doing is no different. If PAI has a problem with your using the term "PAI" or "Project AI" in your file descriptions, there's nothing they can do about that, either, unless they have registered these titles as trademarks, service marks or similar. If that's the case, then you would want to add a statement in your documentation stating something to the effect: "PAI" and "Project AI" are registered trademarks of their respective holders..blah blah blah. And you might also want to make it clear in your documentation that you are not affiliated with PAI in any way. This would help avoid confusion, since PAI may have simply been upset about the possibility that your models might be mistaken for original PAI models by some people. You might want to just ask the PAI folks what they object to and make it right by them. They're reasonable folks. Just ask what they want changed, fix it, then upload your models.Good luck.See ya,=Danno=
June 20, 200421 yr Author Do these models work with the PAI default paints? Will they line up?See you in the fence...CYYZ Al Stiff
June 21, 200421 yr Yes, they work with default PAI paints. Decide yourself wether you want a fast simulation or perfect line up.Daniel
