August 22, 201213 yr Commercial Member For some reason I often get ntdll.dll crashes when I change views... This seems to be somehow related to sounds, when I switch view (using keyboard) from cockpit to outside view often sounds either disappear or get weird for few seconds before FSX stops responding and crashes. Seems to happen more with payware aircraft such as PMDG 737NGX & QW Avro. I use Win7 64 bit, I7 2600k 3.4ghz, 8GB of RAM and Radeon 6990 graphics card and FSX.cfg put through bojotes tweaking tool long time ago and had no crashes before. August 22, 201213 yr There are all kinds of things that can trigger a ntdll.dll error. But my research on this dll indicates it is connected to the memory of your system. Along with the ntdll.dll crash you also had a Memory_Access_Violation which is very common in almost all crashes. Since it is memory related, I would first rename or delete your FSX.cfg (renaming allows you to bring it back in case this doesn't fix the problem). Once renamed or deleted, restart your system and let FSX rebuild the config. Sometimes, those "tweaks" from Bojote may not be compatible with your system and can cause a crash. Try to leave most of your settings to the default. Your graphics may not be the best but you want to test your fsx.cfg to see if that's the problem. If you have no crashes, it is likely a setting within the FSX.cfg. If crashes continue, you can continue with this new FSX.cfg or go back and delete it and rename the old one back to fsx.cfg. Make sure you restart FSX after you do this before going further. Computer system hardware can also cause this problem but then you would be getting the ntdll.dll crash even without fsx running. But video and sound card drivers, if corrupted or not installed properly, can cause issues with your computer trying to use more resources for simple actions. If you recently reinstalled video or sound card drivers, I would uninstall one of them and then run a free registry cleaner to make sure the driver entries have been removed from the registry, then reinstall. If any are Beta drivers, definitely go back to an earlier WHQL version. Is your system overclocked? Sometimes the memory settings (frequency/timing/voltage) are not correct and this can lead to a crash like this. If the voltage on your CPU is too high or too low, this can cause problems too. The reason I mention this is that your system can operate well for a long period of time without an issue but suddenly start crashing. Memory settings are a prime example. I remember having mine not set properly when I first built my system and I ran several memory stability tests and they all passed. But a month or two later, I started having problems with FSX and it caused by wrong memory settings. That's all I can suggest for now. Try the above and let's see if the problem is fixed before we go further. Best regards, Jim
