August 31, 201213 yr Commercial Member 1st WoW - was way back in 2002 when I tried FS for the very first time. Was looking at the side profile of the default 747 when the game came up. Not knowing what to do I pecked at a few keys on my keyboard only to see the camera view spring into action. "WoW" I said, this game is in 3D! 2nd WoW - Winter of 2004 when I was flying in my first photoreal scenery of my hometown with MegaScenery Southern California at dusk with FS2004. 3rd WoW - Tonight. Just finished upgrading my system with two GTX 580's, three 27" LEDs, and Nvidia's Surround with my FSX flying over the Pacific Northwest at dusk. OMG! I had tried to set up a wrap around system last year with my AMD 6970 but was disappointed with the results. FPS were being choked to death, sliders had to be moved waaay left, and the eyepoint was so off I either could only see the entire cockpit scaled up so big, or pan above it to pear out a sliver of the outside view. Not to mention on my desktop everything was soooo stretched, all my icons so small. But today, out of more stupid simmer curiosity, I thought I would give it one more try this time with two GPUs knowing full well not to expect much what with all I have read in the forums. I even have been building a cockpit thinking I would not be able to see both the VC and the outside at the same time. So I went through the Surround set-up thinking "this can't be right, this is too easy", fired it up for the first time about an hour ago with the Cessna and stood in awe what I was seeing outside my windows. Breathtaking. No struggling FPS like in the low teens as my last attempt. I have the frames capped at 30 and that was what I was getting 30.... on three screens! NGX - low 20's. Still need to set up Nvidia Inspector. Surprised after six years after the release of FSX I could still get this "kid on Christmas morning" feeling. Guess you know what I will be doing this Labor Day weekend.
