June 25, 200421 yr In some screens of the product USA Roads of Flight1, seems that the autogen has decreased a lot
June 25, 200421 yr Hi,Yes, the autogen does do a disappearing act. I did what Holger suggested and edited my terrain.cfg file. I made it so that every type of road that is up to and including a 4 lane road will have autogen on it. But it only helps to a small degree. The autogen only appears when I am within a certain distance. I can see considerably futher away than where the autogenis generated. Autogen also seems to depend somewhat on the landclass of the scenery I am near. So, when I am over a dense city area all the roads were pretty much covered by autogen. And the Trees in FS2004 are just to sparse! We need more trees! I'm leaving my terrain.cfg they way it is, for now at least, because it did help a little.Regards,Jim
June 25, 200421 yr I think it looks great with the "Major Roads Only" option. Reminds me allot more of my real flight experience because I now have decent visual reference points with the major roads to do some great VFR planning. I think you'll be happy with the "Major Roads Only" option. Look through a few more most on USA Roads on this forum and you'll see some of my screen shots depicting the major roads. It's more than enough and you get to keep all the great autogen... June 25, 200421 yr I agree major roads is better during the day, but not so realistic for night flying, at least over urban areas.I also tried the change to the terrain.cfg and found little change- I can't understand why, as it should make the autogen ignore roads. I still get wastelands instead of cities though.Best,Joel
