problems with scenery layering and how to resolve

Featured Replies

Like many of you, I have added on a variety of sceneries, terrain meshes etc. Most have gone into specific folders, but many have been installed into the fs9/addon scenery/scenery folder as advised by the scenery creator. Lately, I have noticed irregular layers, especially on airport runways which always cause my plane to sink below ground level. It has happened in widely separated regions from Idaho to Sarasota-Bradenton. So, my thinking is that I want to clear out the addon scenery/scenery folder and start fresh. Are there default sceneries that I should leve alone, or can I just do a clean sweep. Any other ideas about priority layering...for example, should the addon scenery folder be higher than any general terrain mesh? Other tips and ideas appreciated. As always, thanks...Sherm

bumpty bump bump...anyone?Sherm

Wouldn't the easist way be to save your aircraft folder with any addon aircraft, then uninstall FS and do a clean install - this'll get you back to default scenery and you can copy over the aircraft folder (allowing overwrites) to reinstate your addon aircraft(assuming you have some).I keep ALL my addon scenery outside of FS in a seperate folder ( in fact on a different drive)- it makes for much easier troubleshooting if anything nasty occurs.Dave
