June 27, 200421 yr I did it! :-jumpy Flew the OMWINGs L1011-200 Tristar panel in Mike Stone's model using ALL procedures/stations/panels. I started from a cold cockpit and flew an IFR flight from Los Angeles to San Francisco. This has been my test flight for a couple of days. It's just long enough to use all functions of this incredible panel. This is the second time I've flown it, and absolutely everything worked to precision! I utilised the INS, FMC, even the cabin callouts! Autoland worked like a charm as well.I like this so much I may go looking for a virtual airline that still flies the L1011 (I know it's REALLY been replaced by the DC10, but you get my drift)!I'm a freeware only guy, and this is the first time I've EVER felt like saying "as real as it gets." No replies are necessary. I just felt like sharing! :7
June 27, 200421 yr I've got to get back to the L1011 -- I was at the point where I could start her up and take-off. But the problem with this hobby is that it is so easy to get distracted. Somebody mentioned the Antonov AN-14 , so I downloaded it - and have spent the last week with it and the L1011 has been sitting on the back burner. Now that I have got the AN14 sorted out, I will try to get back to the L011. Trouble is I am not really a heavy jet kind of bloke. It is a BIG shame that the L1011 is not currently available.PS I do now have a complete set of English manuals for the L1011 -- it took me quite a while to combine all the pictures in the German PDF files with the English explanations.Barry
June 27, 200421 yr Hello Barry!I also downloaded the AN-14, but, since I am more of a "heavy jet kind of bloke" [;-)], I focused on the L1011 (especially after all the time it took to translate the manuals) and decided to be a lazy bum and follow your posts regarding the Antonov. Thought if you shortened the learning curve on the -14, and I shortened the curve on the Tristar, it could be a good thing! It also took me a while to assemble English manuals w/pics- all done now. Glad I did it, too, because I don't think I would have figured half the stuff out without them. I'll convert to pdf and see how big the files are; if not too huge, perhaps I'll upload them here.Feel free to em or pm me if you have questions on the L1011 panel.Good luck tinkering with the AN-14! :9
