June 27, 200421 yr In our virtual world it seems that the Russians are winning the race!...an-24, tu-154, the announced 114 and others and free!!. I have some questions regarding tu-154 from project tupolev which I find excellent and keep me hooked in such a way that I had not experienced for a long time with the sim and now are some years flt simming.. With the English tutorial and a lot of web translator I am getting to mastering the plane but at the moment have some questions to which I can not find the answers in the web. The first one concerns the autothrust system and the index in the speed indicator. My problem is that I find it always pegged to the needle and this way the use is cumbersome without proper setting in advance. Is this normal? Is there a solution?. I am using it without a registered fsuipc so no APU for me. The second concerns the loadmanager. It seems that somehow there is an error in the program that keeps the mtow at 78000kg when it is 98000kg and commercial cargo to 18000kg. For this reason I have to do every thing manually in the aircraft.cfg for weight and balance and again this takes some fun from it.Of course there are many more things but for now these are the most annoying and hope to find a solution in the forum. Apart from this, it also seems that avsim.ru is down! Does anybody know why? Again thank you very much to authors for all these efforts shared gratis with us. Thx in advance for any answer. Rgds Jorge
June 29, 200421 yr Jorge,>> My problem is that I find it always pegged to the needle and this way the use is cumbersome without proper setting in advance. Is this normal? Yes, it's normal. Besides this, Autothrust is rarely used in the Tu-154 and if, then only for the approach.Which Loadmanager are you using, the original one or the new one ?Mike
June 29, 200421 yr Hello,You said "I am using it without a registered fsuipc so no APU for me".Are you sure the APU is available with a registered FSUIPC ???Because when I switch to the Flight Engineer's panel, the engines shut down and it's impossible to switch them off because the panle doesn't look like the one on the tutorial ...I read some time ago a topic about it on the forum of the Tu Project (I remember that you talked about it there MikeAlpha), and I enderstood that this was normal and that the Engine Switch On wasn't modelized on this aircraft ...But since that time an upgrade appeared, and I don't know if this system is now present ...Could you answer me please ?Thank you,
June 29, 200421 yr Hello,Yes I talk about the same model, the one from the Project Tu team. The last upgrade I downloaded is pt_tu154_update_v9.3.1.exe ...And the panel is different from the tutorial ...But is it possible to shut engines on on this model ?Thanks,
June 30, 200421 yr Hello,And thanks MikeAlpha for your complete answer.I'll try to load the Cessna, switch off engines and then load the Tu-154 ... but as I don't know the procedure, it'll maybe be a bit difficult ... but I'll try !Concerning the VC, a file which added a VC to this model appeared some time ago on avsim.ru ... I'll look for its name, and I'll give it to you ...I think it adds the VC of the other model of TU-154 that is available on avsim.com ... but keeping the Project Tu model. But I'm maybe wrong ... ;-)Thank you,
July 1, 200421 yr Moderator >I think it adds the VC of the other model of TU-154 that is>available on avsim.com ... but keeping the Project Tu model.>But I'm maybe wrong ... ;-)Since the VC is part of the "physical model," and not simply a .cfg file, that seems quite unlikely. Also, it's not necessary to model "drums" with physical geometry, as the illusion is quite well done simply with gauges displayed on a geometrical surface. Whoever said that a VC gauge poly had to be perfectly planar? :) Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
July 1, 200421 yr >> Since the VC is part of the "physical model," and not simply a .cfg file, that seems quite unlikely.Yes but that patch contains mdl files that include the VC in the physical model ...I found the file : Tu154VC.zip on avsim.ru (6729k)Its description is :"Fly Tu-154 model with VC by T. Kokai together with the Tu-154 panel 9.2 by D. Kolesnik Czechoslovak Airlines and VIP liveries are included."
July 1, 200421 yr >> but as I don't know the procedure, it'll maybe be a bit difficult Yes, it is very challenging and a lot of work, but it's a part of that great Tu-154 experience. After that long setup of the plane, I still enjoy the voice callouts at the end of the procedure : "Engineer ready", "Navigator ready" and the female copilot says "ready on the right". Try to work with the tutorial. I know it is far from perfect, but I hope it will help. I will try the VC file you mentioned at AVSIM.My doubt of the VC was related to the complexity of the NVU navigation, not the optical appearance of the drum counters. There are a lot of clickspots in a very small area. And one wrong entry and you can be end up somewhere in the "desert". A three crewmember operation is already difficult, but in the Tu-154 you have a four crewmember operation ! How that can be handled in a VC would be interesting to try though :)Mike
July 1, 200421 yr I'd likely still use the (very impressive) 2D panel for most of the button pushing. I just like having the VC there for panning around gawking at the scenery so it doesn't matter to me all that much if its only semi-dynamic... :)
