September 17, 201213 yr Here are some of the airplanes that were parked durring the event! There were many helicopters flying all over the place as well, but I never seemed to have my camera at the right moment. Normally the airspace is uncontrolled, so for the event - the FAA brought in a temp tower and some of the controllers from O'hare Intl (KORD). Some of the ATC guys were quite funny - many of the pilots are just starting flight training and they don't have a lot of tower experiance. A conversation like this took place. N2166E : "Tower, this 2166E holding short of runway 02, training a student on Air Traffic Control procedures, ready for takeoff westbound departure." Tower: " Roger, cleared for the westbound departure - Yea, we're trying to train you guys too." My instuctor and I almost died of laughter.
