Camera views

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am having one or two problems with OpusFsx. In the first place, I cannot save any modifications I make to the camera views. When I press the 'Save all Cameras' button, for example, the view simply reverts to the default setting. In addition I cannot add any new cameras. The two dialogue boxes above the radio buttons for selecting between the virtual cockpit , 2D cockpit and the aircraft view are both greyed out and the lower box states 'No Matching Camera Views'.

I have run the configuration and selected the right directory for FsX and ticked the 'Enable Live Camera Control' so I have no idea what I am doing wrong.

What is bizzarre is the fact that I did not have this problem when I first installed OpusFsx. I was able to create cameras, modify the views and so forth. Stupidly, as it turns out, I thought something had gone wrong with Opus so I uninstalled and then re-installed the programme from which point the above difficulties began.

I re-installed Opus becuase the turbulence settings had seemed to have stopped working, which is the second problem. When I first installed Opus it ran fine and just to get the measure of the DHM I flew through heavy turbulence using a Boeing 737 and very satisfactorily the plane wobbled and and shook. I then installed the beta update and flew the same scenario again but this time there was hardly any shaking at all. I then decided to re-install the pre beta version and now I can't get the programme to work. I have tried re-installing a number of times without success. Each time I have re-installed I have uninstalled it using the uninstall programme and also I have manually removed from the camera cfg file and the aircraft cfg file the opus camera definition entries.

I have Opus on a single machine and it is installed in its default directory on my C drive.

I should be very grateful for some help and advice.

Sounds like you have restricted the camera search to certain specific aircraft types. Open the Cameras dialog and click on 'Select Aircraft Types of Interest', select the 'All Aircraft' option and click on OK. You should now see the 'Select Camera View' button enabled.

Did you re-install a previous version because the versions are not necessarily forward compatible. The new versions are backward comaptible but not the other way around. If so please download and re-install the latest beta version 2.21.7.

Check over your Configure and Weather dialog settings again to make sure nothing has been corrupted.

No need to manually remove anything from your aircraft.cfg files. The DHM effects are associated with camera views and are only displayed if that camera view is selected. If you fly the 737NGX and have lost your cameras then email me and I will send you my CAM file. You can always load this and edit the views to suit your own personal preferences. All camera definitions are stored in the c:\OpusFSX\FSXSERVER.CAM file.

Dear Stephen,

Thank you for your prompt reply. I am afraid I have been utterly dozy and after carefully reading the instructions over again it specifically states that if the message 'No Matching Camera Views' is displayed one has simply to add a new camera. Feeling completely stupid, I did this and of course everything worked properly as before!

There is, however, an issue that you could perhaps address. Every time I switch views there is a momentary zoom as if the view resets itself to the default 70% and then changes to my setting of 60%. I wonder if there is a way of stopping this happening.

Thank you once again for your prompt reply and please excuse my being so dim.

Regards,

Adam Mills.

No problem regarding the first point, glad you sorted it out.

Regarding zooming, please download and install 2.21.7. This version only changes the zoom if the camera view requires a different setting so this should help. Also the order in which the view control is executed is slightly different to make it display more smoothly. This beta also introduces the smooth transition option, set in the Configure dialog.

That brings me on to the problem with FSX. Unfortunately, camera or view control almost seems like it was added as an after thought, or at least the development was never completed within SimConnect. There is no way of reading what the current zoom setting is. All that can be done is set the zoom to x1 and alter it from there. One hint try not to use the fine zoom control. This can only be processed by repeating your steps to make the fine adjustments.

Summary ... Use beta 2.21.7 + don't use the fine control.

Regards

Stephen
