  1. Hi, I have just fixed the problem! I found some uneeded dll files fromFxaaTool in the main FsX folder. I removed these and now the DX-10 option has returned. This is a great relief since I was not looking forward to re-installing FsX.
  2. Thanks for your reply. I have Acceleration and I had re-installed it but that made no difference - still no DX-10 option. I also tried rebuilding the fsx.cfg file and that didn't work either so I am stumped. I have also downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers and that too accomplished nothing. Regards, Adam.
  3. HI, I should be very grateful for some advice because something very weird has happened. I no longer have the checkbox for the DX-10 preview mode. It was there yesterday and now it has disappeared and I have no idea what might have caused this. I have experimented with DX-10 in the past but without much enthusiasm. Yesterday I decided to have another go and ticked the check box (which was then present) closed down FsX and restarted it. To my surprise FsX would not start, the opening screen would appear and then the programme would just close down. I deleted the fsx.cfg file in order to regenerate it, which worked, but on re-starting FsX I discovered that the DX-10 checkbox had disappeared. What is so odd is that I have run FsX in DX-10 preview mode in the past without any problems and between then and now I haven't changed anything. I have no idea what or why this has happened and I should welcome any help. I'm sorry if this has been covered before, I have hunted around but I couldn't find anything on this problem. Regards, Adam Mills.
  4. Dear Stephen, I have two question regarding Opus. The first is, is it possible to save camera views so that one can restore them after upgrading the programme? I ask this becuase every time I have installed one of the the new beta version of Opus I have had to redo all the camera views for my aircraft. I have read the sections of the manual where it talks about 'Save Views', 'Restore Views' but that seems to concern windowed views not re-installing previously configured camera positions. Secondly, would it be possible to include an external camera view which duplicates the 'walk around' function that is found in DBS Walk and Follow or in EzDoc? Maybe this is already possible and it is just that I have not understood the instructions properly. My apologies if these questions have been covered elsewhere, if they have I have not been able to them. Regards, Adam Mills.
  5. Dear Stephen, Thank you for your prompt reply. I am afraid I have been utterly dozy and after carefully reading the instructions over again it specifically states that if the message 'No Matching Camera Views' is displayed one has simply to add a new camera. Feeling completely stupid, I did this and of course everything worked properly as before! There is, however, an issue that you could perhaps address. Every time I switch views there is a momentary zoom as if the view resets itself to the default 70% and then changes to my setting of 60%. I wonder if there is a way of stopping this happening. Thank you once again for your prompt reply and please excuse my being so dim. Regards, Adam Mills.
  6. Hi, I am having one or two problems with OpusFsx. In the first place, I cannot save any modifications I make to the camera views. When I press the 'Save all Cameras' button, for example, the view simply reverts to the default setting. In addition I cannot add any new cameras. The two dialogue boxes above the radio buttons for selecting between the virtual cockpit , 2D cockpit and the aircraft view are both greyed out and the lower box states 'No Matching Camera Views'. I have run the configuration and selected the right directory for FsX and ticked the 'Enable Live Camera Control' so I have no idea what I am doing wrong. What is bizzarre is the fact that I did not have this problem when I first installed OpusFsx. I was able to create cameras, modify the views and so forth. Stupidly, as it turns out, I thought something had gone wrong with Opus so I uninstalled and then re-installed the programme from which point the above difficulties began. I re-installed Opus becuase the turbulence settings had seemed to have stopped working, which is the second problem. When I first installed Opus it ran fine and just to get the measure of the DHM I flew through heavy turbulence using a Boeing 737 and very satisfactorily the plane wobbled and and shook. I then installed the beta update and flew the same scenario again but this time there was hardly any shaking at all. I then decided to re-install the pre beta version and now I can't get the programme to work. I have tried re-installing a number of times without success. Each time I have re-installed I have uninstalled it using the uninstall programme and also I have manually removed from the camera cfg file and the aircraft cfg file the opus camera definition entries. I have Opus on a single machine and it is installed in its default directory on my C drive. I should be very grateful for some help and advice.
  7. Hi,Please, please please can some one help, I am at my wits end. A few days ago, out of the blue, I noticed that various things were not loading via the exe.xml file. What is extremely odd is that the file not only is not loading stuff but is also seems to be affecting things in the dll.exml file. For example, Contrails Pro which used to appear as an item in the Add-Ons drop down menu no longer does. But weirder and weirder, last night I did a new exe.xml file with no items in it and it workded - a miracle - I added AI carriers to it and it still worked. I tried again this morning it was still working - both Contrail Pro and Ai carriers were appearing as items in the Add-ons drop down menu. However, now after restarting the computer this afternoon the very same problem has re-appeared over again. The only items appearing in the Add-ons drop down menu are PMDG and Fsuipc, nothing else. I did and experiment deleting the exe.xml file completely but the problem with the missing menu items continues and if I populate the exe file with items none of them load.I should be very grateful for some suggestions as to how to fix this problem.Thanks,Adam.
  8. Hi,Thank you very much for your reply, unofrtunately your suggestions don't really aply to my situation since I don't have FsX installed under Program Files (x86). I did discover (by accident) that I was not able to make changes to my scenery.cfg file when it was in situ and that lead me to look at the permissions for the Fsx folder under Program Data. Under security there was entry for something called 'Authenticated Users' which lacked full control. This I changed to full control and things now seem to work! I have no idea at all what 'Authenticated Users' or how its permissions got changed.Thank you once again for your reply.Adam mills.
  9. Hi,All of a sudden I have started to get an error message when I try to install scenery into Fsx from within the programme - it reads as follows,"You do not have permission to install new files on this computer. Please have an administrator log on to complete the scenery installation."I have installed lots of scenery into FsX in the past and I have never before recieved this error message. I have admin. rights on my account (and just to be sure I checked) so I can see no reason why this problem should be occurring. What is even more strange, is that, following the error meassage, the scenery is intalled anyway though irritatingly when I resart FsX the error message pops up and then the programme runs the scenery install routine over again. This is all very frustrating and irritating. I should be very grateful if someone would offer some advice as to how to fix this problem.Adam Mills.
  10. Click on one of the AI planes in the drop-down list then press the 'a' key and that will allow you to cycle through all the AI planes in your vicinity parked or flying.

    Trees

Hi,I don't know if this has been covered before (I have done a search but nothing useful came up) but is it only me or do some of the trees seem far too tall? It certainly looks that way to me, so I have a question, is there a way to make the trees smaller: I don't mean reduce the texture size but actually to reduce the height of the trees themselves so as to match them better to the size of the autogen buildings? Adam Mills.
  12. Hi,I think I probably owe people an apology for making available these modified textures while failing to accompany them with any pictures. Part of my reason for not doing so was that I am not very good at taking flattering screenshots and also I suppose I had hoped that the textures would speak for themselves (a rather silly thought I realise now in retrospect). Anyway to remedy the situation for the US textures at least I have attached to this note five sceenshots. They were all taken at midday with visibility set to 50 miles. With the exception of the shot of the mountains east of Seattle all the others were taken from an altitude of 5000 ft. These are the modified default textures without my using any landclass products or any re-naming of files.Adam Mills.
  13. Hi Virtuali,Point taken! I do fully understand what you are saying, namely that from a commercial point of view you would have to produce a unique product. Given the quality of Cloud 9 work, this, of course, leads to an obvious question - why don't you?Regards,Adam.
  14. Hi Virtuali,I have no disagreement with your general view, that these textures are in effect a 'quick and dirty' fix for some of the problems with the default texture sets. Moreover, I make no bones about the fact that I have made them available (originally I did them just for myself) until Cloud 9 or Peter Wilding or somebody else comes along and does a proper decent set of textures. I should, however, like to take issue with one remark you make. You say you don't have the same luxury to do such a 'quick job'. It maybe that I am a very slow, but it has taken me several months of quite hard work to redo these textures. Now, there is no reason for you or anyone else to care about that particularly for simply because one has spent a long time doing soemthing does not make what one has done good or worthwhile. But, that said I am sorry that to you it looks as if the textures are merely a 'quick job'. I had noticed people worrying about the season problem when using Cloud 9 X-class products (which I have and appreciate) and I had hoped that these textures would resolve that issue at least until something better was released. With regards,Adam Mills
  15. Hi,Well, I'm rather disappointed that you saw little difference between the modified european textures and the default ones. The most dramatic differences can be seen in the winter and over mountainous terrain. If you are using a landclass enhancement such as Cloud 9's X-Class series then you probably won't see much change because their solution to the desert and winter problem was to modify the seasons so that, for example, green (spring) textures would show up in winter.Thank you for trying them all the same,Adam Mills.
