B-17, Robert Hawk's Panel & Prop Rotation

Featured Replies

Hello.I'm hoping someone can help me out with a problem I've run into.I have downloaded a B-17 for FS2004 (membelle.zip at flightsim.com) as well as the panel by Robert Hawk (b17_panel.zip here at avsim). With Robert's panel came two aircraft.cfg files for use. One for the "F" model (which is the download mentioned above) and one for an "E" model. It seems that when using his aircraft.cfg file, the prop of the #1 engine rotates in the opposite direction of the other three. If I use the aircraft.cfg file that came with the plane it works properly. So, there is obviously something that is a miss with Robert's file but I don't know exactly what or how to fix it.I have tried to contact Robert via the e-mail in his documentation but it tells me that his mailbox is full and bounces the message back. So, I've come to you wizards here for assistance. It's probably a simple change that will fix it but I'm not exactly sure where to go in the file to correct it.Any help that you may provide would be appreciated. Thanks!

That shouldnt be caused by the panel...try pressing Cntl-Shift-F4 and Cntl-F4 to see if it is the prop pitch. Alternatively, take out the panel and try again.Robert is on the road right now, he recently decided to become a trucker, bought a rig, and is now running cargo around the country. Im sure he will check his email soon, though!

I didn't say it was caused by the panel. I said it was caused by the aircraft.cfg file that came with the panel that the documentation (that also came with the panel) said to use.

HiHave a look in the aircraft.cfg propeller section for a linerotation =Remove this or you can change the rotation to suit:)likerotation = -1, 1, 1, -11 is default rotation,-1 is reverse,0 is stillRegardsMaV

Actually I had already looked at this but I didn't know what to do with what I found.In that part of the file it says...rotation=-1,1Here is the whole section...[propeller]thrust_scalar=1.0propeller_type=0propeller_diameter=10.833000propeller_blades=3propeller_moi=33.370000beta_max=53.500000beta_min=18.500000min_gov_rpm=1800.000000prop_tc=0.010000gear_reduction_ratio=1.778000fixed_pitch_beta=0.000000low_speed_theory_limit=80.000000prop_sync_available= 1prop_deice_available= 1prop_feathering_available= 1prop_auto_feathering_available= 0rotation=-1,1min_rpm_for_feather= 700.0beta_feather= 89.5power_absorbed_cf= 0.9defeathering_accumulators_available= 0prop_reverse_available= 0beta_feather=0.000000power_absorbed_cf=0.000000defeathering_accumulators_available=0prop_reverse_available=0.000000minimum_on_ground_beta=0.000000minimum_reverse_beta=0.000000

Hirotation=-1,1(rotation=-1"engine1",1"engine2")Means that engine 1 is reversed and engine 2 is normalas there are no entry's for engine 3 and 4 they will spin as engine 2I don't know weather all the B17 props spin in the same direction but if you remove the rotation=-1,1 line completely then the props will all spin in the same direction. Also I'm not sure if this has any effect on engine torque or is just a visual settingRegardsMaV
