Saving Camera Views

Featured Replies

Dear Stephen,

I have two question regarding Opus. The first is, is it possible to save camera views so that one can restore them after upgrading the programme? I ask this becuase every time I have installed one of the the new beta version of Opus I have had to redo all the camera views for my aircraft. I have read the sections of the manual where it talks about 'Save Views', 'Restore Views' but that seems to concern windowed views not re-installing previously configured camera positions.

Secondly, would it be possible to include an external camera view which duplicates the 'walk around' function that is found in DBS Walk and Follow or in EzDoc? Maybe this is already possible and it is just that I have not understood the instructions properly.

My apologies if these questions have been covered elsewhere, if they have I have not been able to them.

Regards,

Adam Mills.

Hi Adam,

All your original configuration (DAT) and camera definition (CAM) files should remain intact after an upgrade. Are you perhaps deleting the OpusFSX installation folder? This folder contains your current CAM and DAT files which you want to preserve (your camera definitions for your main server PC are stored in FSXSERVER.CAM). Just use the Uninstall a program option in Control Panel to uninstall the old version of OpusFSX, you don't need to do any more than that. We will also see about creating automatic backups of the CAM and DAT files during upgrades. In the meantime it is a good idea to take a backup of your CAM files in case they get corrupted (this may happen when you revert to a previous version with a different CAM format).

We will be starting another phase of development for Live Camera soon, if you could post your ideas in our Flight1 Live Camera topic we will see what we can do.

Regards

Cheryl
