July 2, 200421 yr OK, I know FSGS has been discussed on this forum and others several times. Have to add my 2 cents from what I just experienced.I used FSGS' services back in January of this year. I'm far from being a FS or computer "newbie", but I also am old enough (51) to know I don't know it all. The service was fantastic and Michael of FSGS spent about 4 hrs with me going over every "nook and cranny" on my computer. My FS looked and performed much better than it ever has. Now the "rest of the story"This past weekend I met up with Michael on Messenger and asked him if there were any new "discoveries" since the January session. He told me there might be a few and to get with him this week. Well tonight we hooked up and started to go over any changes that could be made. In the middle of all this Michael discovered I had two virus's on my computer (I do run antivirus software). We spent about an hour and a half removing the virus and went into command line instructions that I've never seen before. We got the virus problem squared away, went back to tweaking for FS and I ended up with FS working even better than it did before which was very, very good as it was.Was there an extra charge for all of this. No sir! Was Michael under any obligation to help me with the virus or for that matter share any additional info on FS. No Sir!FSGS and Michael are what I call a "Class Act" all the way.
July 2, 200421 yr Well Sir, let me tell you that up until 2 days ago I have never heard of the services provided by FSGS. When I started to research, it came to my attention that there are very good reviews and testimonies of their service. However, there is great controversy also, some people think that every user can tweak and reform their system up to a great extent. Of course, I do not want this thread to become a little civil war between those with different line of thinking.Being very bad in the field of Extreme tweaking, even though I built myself what I considered what 4 months ago was a top of the line machine, I am inclined to use FSGS services...I whish they had a public forum in which we can see "the big picture" of their work.Again, there are contrary opinions everywhere, thinking different does not mean that the others are wrong. Here are my SpecsMoBo 800 FSBPentium 4 @ 3.2 HT1Gb 3200 RAMGforce 5900 @256MBHard Drive @ 7200 RPMI get decent frame rates, almost all sliders to the right except Autogen one notch from the right. With PMDG (my most Resource hungry AC - VC only) and 100% Ultimate Traffic I get 16-18 with FPS locked in 18 in KMIA with Active Sky 2004 fully implemented.Even though somebody can say 16 FPS is low, the game's always smooth, is the graphics quality I am still not convinced at all.
July 2, 200421 yr In my humble opnion the simple rules of economics apply here. You buy what you need.If you feel that you cannot handle complicated and lengthy tweaking yourself or you just do not want to spend months doing so and eventually discovering that you screwed something else up royally in the process then you go ahead and order the service. This is just another service provided by a vendor and you don't have to buy it.I guess many simmers tend to get too personal and sensitive in the flight sim world.try it out yourself if you think about it - if you are not happy you are not obliged to pay. RespectfullyDom
July 2, 200421 yr Dom,I think you brought up an excellent point - "I guess many simmers tend to get too personal and sensitive in the flight sim world."Everyone else,In any case, I admit being astonished by FSGS and there service record. Basically doing a second consultation and not requiring payment? FSGS appears to have figured out that the simmer is there livelihood, and that they don't want to short change the simmer. Perhaps there are other vendors around these parts that might want to look at FSGS and get a few ideas from them :)
