July 8, 200421 yr Hello fellow PC pilotz...Im looking to add a regional turboprop to my FS2000 (yes I still use FS2000 lol). Im interested in:-Fokker 50 -Fokker 60 UTA-ATR 42 or 72-Saab 340 or 2000-Dornier 328-Dash 7 or 8Could any of you point me to some *freeware* websites that have these planes? Ideally they would also have the panels packaged with them but it ok if they dont!Thanx loads and happy armchair flyin :)
July 8, 200421 yr Been too long since I used FS2000.... But your best bet is to do a web search for the keywords "FSDS" and "Turboprop" and any of the keywords you're interested in.BTW, FS2002 runs rings around FS2000--even on a low end system. You should try FS2002 if you can.... I still have it on my system in spite of FS2004 for some old FSDS aircraft... But FS2000 is loooong gone :)-John
July 8, 200421 yr Hee hee, yea I know, I've seen FS2004 on hi-end systems and the screenshots on the Internet....and it looks just an ***awesome*** flight sim!Problem is my laptop cannot handle it as its an old one (specs below)Also Im disappointed that Microsoft got rid of mouse-support in FS2004. As a laptop user I cant carry a joystick around and have been flying FS2000 nicely with my mini optical mouse as I travel. Unless of course theres a mini joystick for laptops!....then FS2K4 would be niiiice :) So yea...Im planning on a new hi-end laptop when I have the money but until then..FS2000 will have to do! Thanx for the advice on the turboprops :)--------------Computer specs--------------Sony Vaio Laptop (PCG-Z600HEK)Windows 2000 Professional (Service Pack 4)DirectX 9.0b20GB HDD (10gb free)800Mhz Mobile Intel Pentium IIIE 128MB SDRAMATI Rage Mobility-M1 AGP (8Mb)Yamaha Native DS1 Audio
July 8, 200421 yr I was suggesting you try FS2002--not FS2004. I used to run FS2002 with a Voodoo card and specs quite like yours... See my specs below--the vid card I upgraded for FS2004 along with the RAM, but everything else ran FS2002 just fine...-John
July 8, 200421 yr Does FS2002 have mouse-support?Whats the difference between it & FS2004 (apart from the vintage planes)? Is it technically a different & more capable sim? By that I mean whats a better buy FS2002 Professional or FS2004?That is interesting that u ran FS2002 on a low-end sim...
July 8, 200421 yr Don't even go near fs2004 with that video card. However, many people found that fs2002 ran better on the same hardware than fs2000. I'm sure 2002 has found its way to the bargain bin also, so you could probably try it cheap. You can use a mouse to fly in 2002 I think. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
July 8, 200421 yr FS2002 has mouse support... (I'm sorry--if you meant to ask if you can use a mouse to fly, you can't--although I somewhat recall a third party add-on that let someone use the mouse-as-yoke)The biggest difference between it and FS2004 is that FS2002 is slightly less dense in scenery detail, graphically. FS2002's AI is also first generation, and its clouds aren't that great, IMHO. But in all areas it exceeds FS2000 by leaps and bounds. Vs FS2000, FS2002 ran much better on my system. It really did live up to Microsoft's press regarding performance. Even more impressive are its visuals--far beyond FS2000--but at the same or even better level of performance, with no stutters. Here's screenshots from FS2002 I just took over the weekend--it's pretty impressive and my fps were bouncing between 30-35. Your result wouldn't be quite as crisp since you have less memory--but it still would be pretty nice, I think.FS2002 can also be found for $10-20 in some places...http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...&mesg_id=146968
July 8, 200421 yr Ahh yes I should have made myself clear! You are right, by "mouse-support" I meant using the mouse to fly :)Thats most interesting that there might be as 3rd-party app that lets me do that...looks like I got a lot of searching to do. I think I will go for FS2004 when I get my new system! Until then I shall have to waddle on in FS2000! Its not all bad because I see that in FS2004 theres *no* Concorde!!!!!!
